Steve Carell Somehow Involved in Alexander's Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

It's been over a year since Fox hired The Kids Are Alright's Lisa Cholodenko to direct an adaptation of Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, but just now are they getting around to the business of filling this shitty day with some actors. The studio still has yet to find their Alexander, but according to Deadline, they do nearly have their "Ben" in Steve Carell, whose recent work in Crazy, Stupid, Love and Seeking a Friend for the End of the World has already shown a propensity for unwieldly, adjective-heavy titles. And just who is this Ben character Carell would be playing? I have no idea. As with all nondescript Carell roles, until we learn better, let's just assume the character is either an affable everyman or a screaming buffoon bordering on mental illness.
