Guy Pearce's fake TED talk as a genius in the field of synthetic humanoids apparently has him sought after in the field of fictional bio-electronics. Now he's going to do something like that in Iron Man 3.

According to Variety, Pearce is in final talks to play geneticist Aldrich Killian in the superhero sequel, set to be directed by Shane Black.

In Warren Ellis's six-issue Extremis comic storyline, for which Iron Man 3 is said to heavily rely, Killian is one of the geneticists who invents the "Extremis," the totally extreme virus meant to rewrite genetic code and make mankind stronger more efficient. When Tony Stark is "infected," it somehow merges his Iron Man technology with his organic body, and then other nerdy shit happens, and then that becomes a movie in theaters May 3, 2013. In the full plot, the virus also gets in the hands of terrorists, but please, don't worry about that. If you do, then they've already won.
