Colin Farrell Offered 'Winter's Tale' Lead, Demands Colin Farrell-Sized Paycheck

Colin Farrell has been offered a lead alongside Downton Abbey's Jessica Brown Findlay in Akiva Goldsman's feature directorial debut, Winter's Tale. With the talent of Will Smith and Russell Crowe already attached to supporting roles, and Variety describing Farrell's proposed role as "a coveted part," you'd think the actor would jump at the opportunity--particularly now that Farrell isn't becoming the new Richard Gere anymore. Not the case! As it turns out, Farrell might just be too big a fish for this pond once everyone sees how good Total Recall is.

Though formal negotiations have not yet started for the role, Variety's sources are apparently already questioning if talks will work out, as "the actor is seeking a payday with his starring turn in Sony's summer tentpole Total Recall already generating heat." If you want Colin fucking Farrell to shave his little goatee and bring his smoldering, furrowed glare to a production, you gotta pay, baby. He is the star of a Total Recall remake from the director of two Underworld films!

If Farrell ends up passing on the offer, Goldsman is reportedly looking at less massive stars like Luke Evans, Garrett Hedlund, Liam Hemsworth, Aaron Johnson, and Benjamin Walker for the lead, the part of "a young thief on the run who breaks into a wealthy man's home and ends up falling for his terminally-ill daughter." The film also involves a flying horse, so let's keep our fingers crossed that talks will work out with Farrell. He has gone far too long without being in a movie with a flying horse.
