'Contraband' Sneaks Weekend Box Office Taped to Mark Wahlberg's Torso

Your weekend box office:

1. Contraband - $24.1 million, Mark Wahlberg proving himself the Listerine Breath Strip of semi-effectively masking the lingering taste of last week's number one, The Devil Inside.

2. Beauty and the Beast 3D - $18.5 million, falling well short of The Lion King 3D's $30.2 million debut. I suppose when it's outright advertised as "a tale as old as time," it's no wonder so many people remembered they already paid to see this in 1991.

3. Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol - $11.5 million, still clinging to the top three in its fifth week--much like Tom Cruise clings to the side of a Dubai building, or clings to his fearful, angry positions on modern medicine.

4. Joyful Noise - $11.3 million, a mild opening that basically guarantees the world will never get its much-needed Queen Latifah/Dolly Parton See No Evil, Hear No Evil remake.

5. Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows - $8.4 million, relegating The Devil Inside to a lonely sixth place, where it has only its $45 million profit to keep it company.
