'Akira' Remake Almost Has Its Non-Japanese Tetsuo

As Jaume Collet-Serra's live-action Akira continues to expand and mutate into something that more and more isn't quite Akira, two more actors have been taken into its fleshy folds. With TRON: Legacy's Garrett Hedlund confirmed to play the film's lead, Kaneda, now the search is on for someone to play the second principal, Tetsuo--and naturally, when you're looking for a "Tetsuo," what you're looking for is a squinty white guy. So, according to THR, We Need To Talk About Kevin's Ezra Miller and Tetro's Alden Ehrenreich--who was previously in the running to be our new Spider-Man---have already read for the part of the telekinetic teenager (who may or may not still be teenager) whose out-of-control powers threaten to destroy Neo Manhattan (formerly Neo Tokyo), and they're currently the frontrunners for the role. Treat this information much the same way you would the knowledge of what toppings were ordered on a pizza someone had delivered to you as a prank.
