'Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked' Trailer Actually Makes Jason Lee Emote for These CGI Chipmunks

Continuing the day's theme of prosecutable parental abuse, the latest trailer for Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked sees a visibly distraught Jason Lee sorrowfully searching a deserted island for his stranded animal children, who he neglectfully lost while asleep on a cruise ship.

Perhaps fearing a lawsuit if their trailers don't adequately represent the anthropomorphic rodent tale's darker side, 20th Century Fox has made the latest preview a far more somber affair, highlighting the direness that is being chipwrecked with a sobering cover of Destiny's Child's Survivor, sung in a woeful-though-high-pitched tone that laces the tune with harsh implications of Alvin's realization of his own mortality. Though the chipmunks' mouths say "I'm gonna make it," it becomes clear none of them truly believe those words when a single, lens flare-producing piece of fruit turn the group into ravenous monsters, delirious to the point of making outdated Lord of the Rings references. This dramatic squeakquel is NOT all poop-eating jokes! There will probably be a couple poop-eating jokes, though.

Were you paying attention to that tearful "Where are you, Alvin?", Academy?

"Oh, they're on boat vacation this time? Well, a sloppy Titanic parody and a Chipmunks cover of The Go-Go's Vacation is the first thing I thought of, and since no one will probably ever be able to come up with anything more depressingly inane than that, let's just go for it."... / Continue →

Born from a muddy CGI womb cradled amid Ghosts of Mars, 300, and a Sega CD cutscene from Sewer Shark, Riddick returns Vin Diesel to his role as a muscle-bound mole-man and drops him on a desolate, entirely Vin Diesel-colored planet. There, both bounty hunters and the even more ... / Continue →
