Russell Crowe Is Superman's Biological Father
Now that Batman casting is reportedly finished up, time to get back to worrying about who's going to be in this Superman thing, The Man of Steel. On that note, Variety has learned that Warner Bros. now has Russell Crowe in talks to play Jor-El, Superman's biological father and the only man on Krypton smart enough to build a little baby rocket before their planet blew up. The role was previously played by Marlon Brando and CGI Brando, and director Zack Snyder and producer Christopher Nolan had been looking at actors like Sean Penn and Clive Owen before finally settling on Crowe to fill those big Brando booties. Sorry, Gerard Butler, but it looks like Snyder has grown tired of Gladiator Lite and moved on to the real thing.
