'Fringe' Writer Hired for Daredevil Reboot

Pleased enough with themselves for having rushed out an X-Men movie in time to not lose the property, Fox is now shifting their attention to doing the same thing for Daredevil, lest Marvel reclaim the rights to their blind acrobat lawyer. They already attached director David Slade to develop the film in March, and now that he's made clear that he'd like a script to base the movie on, the studio has hired Brad Caleb Kane to write it. Those who are fans of Fox's Fringe will be pleased to know Kane is a writer and producer on that series. Those who are also fans of Aladdin's post-Aladdin singing voice will be doubly pleased to know Kane provided the vocals for the Arabian urchin in The Return of Jafar, Aladdin and the King of Thieves, Aladdin on Ice, and the Aladdin Activity Center CD-ROM. But, according to The Hollywood Reporter, he "is a Daredevil fan, and his energy and passion for the material helped him nab the job," so maybe his enthusiasm will translate into something watchable. Or maybe he'll just throw in some imagery of blood and rose petals in the hopes someone will get something out of that. Who knows?
