If you didn't like the broad-jawed Venezuelan direction Zack Snyder was rumored to be going with his Superman villain casting, how about more of a reeeeaaaal creepo route? Deadline has heard tell Michael Shannon's impressive work on HBO's Boardwalk Empire has earned him some attention from Warner Bros., and the actor is now being looked at as a possible candidate to play The Man of Steel's villain.
I really, really like the idea of it being Michael Shannon's dry monotone explaining to Superman all the shit he's going to do now that the hero has been paralyzed with kryptonite, but honestly I'm not really sure who in the Clark Kent rogues gallery he'd be well suited for. Any ideas? It's not as obvious as casting him as a Dick Tracy villain. (He would be every Dick Tracy villain.)
