Baz Luhrmann, Cameron Crowe Looking for Ladies

As Baz Luhrmann begins work on making yet another The Great Gatsby adaptation--this one with Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire as Gatsby and Nick Carraway, respectively--he's apparently using Marc Webb's method of finding a female lead: meeting with as many attractive young ladies as possible. The Moulin Rouge director is reportedly considering a sizable list of hot potential candidates to play Daisy: he's already had The Town's Rebecca Hall read with DiCaprio, and he's hoping Keira Knightley, Amanda Seyfried, Blake Lively, Abbie Cornish, Michelle Williams, Natalie Portman, and Scarlett Johansson will all test before he makes a decision. If he can also convince them to pose for a calendar, he will have finished the transition into '80s college movie protagonist.

Meanwhile, Cameron Crowe is working on getting someone to star opposite Matt Damon in We Bought a Zoo, his film about some people who bought a zoo. According to Deadline, he too wants Scarlett Johansson, but is also considering Amy Adams, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Rachel McAdams for the part. Tough decisions abound. Perhaps if all of Luhrmann's and Crowe's candidates kissed...
