There's This Now: We're Getting a New 'Munsters'

Good news and bad news. Good: this has nothing to do with that horrific Wayans Brothers version of The Munsters they've been talking about for years. Bad: NBC has made a deal to bring The Munsters back to TV as a series. Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller (who's also writing a new Pinocchio) sold to the network the project, which is being described as "Modern Family meets True Blood." You know, because it's about a family, and because they're Draculas and Frankensteins and stuff, and because calling it "the most desperate attempt at re-making the most desperately high concept sitcom ever" is a harder sell than just mentioning a couple popular shows. Meanwhile, Guillermo del Toro, who just took on consultant duties at DreamWorks Animation for films like Puss in Boots, is said to be considering doing the same here, because he really wants to lose all of his credibility within the month of September. My, what a wretched television landscape we're constructing underground, beneath the rich, sprawling cities of HBO and AMC.
