Monty Pythoners, John Oliver Teaming for Animated "Silliness." Also, Robin Williams Might Be There

Let's all hope Terry Jones is still capable of being funny, because the former Monty Python member has written an animated film called Absolutely Anything with Gavin Scott and he'll be directing it for Phoenix Pictures. Deadline has news of the project, but in terms of plot, knows only that it involves "aliens, a goofy Brit, a talking dog and buckets of silliness." Daily Show correspondent John Oliver will provide the voice of the goofy Brit, while Jones hopes a Python reunion will come together in the voices of the aliens. Robin Williams is in talks to shout some wacky vocals into Dennis the Dog, presumably filling the "buckets of silliness" around which mom-chuckles will breed like mosquitoes.

Asked about the abrupt change in tone from Phoenix Pictures' last film, Darren Aronofsky's psychlogical thriller Black Swan, Phoenix chairman and CEO Mike Medavoy replied, "Funny is money," which really puts any excitement you might feel about the Python sort-of-reunion into soulless perspective.
