Martin Freeman's Exhausted Stare as Bilbo Baggins?

In what seems to me to be the most apt-looking Tolkien casting since Ian McKellen put on a robe, New Line and MGM are reportedly in negotiations with Martin Freeman to play Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit. Following up on a dubious story from The Sun, EW claims the studios have indeed put out an offer to the former Office star, and are attempting to work out a schedule that would allow him to continue his work on the BBC's Sherlock while also wandering around New Zealand countrysides in a little cape. Pretty perfect, I'd say. Can't ask for a more sympathetic and Hobbity-looking unlikely hero than Martin Freeman. Sorry, Ghost of Dudley Moore.
