Jul 29 2010'Tangled' Poster Shows Off Strides Computers Have Made with Hair

We've come a long way since Donkey Kong Country. In terms of accurately rendering hair using computers, I mean. As far as barrel, rhinoceros, frog, and ostrich travel goes, we're at a virtual standstill.

I feel threatened by their stares, hiding in their hair coccoon.

The hair is awesome considering skin still looks as lame as Toy Story 1.

@2 its called avoiding uncanny valley. Its well known that if skin is rendered any less cartoony, it just looks pretty creepy...

I saw The Trailer for this and who knew I'd be interested in a movie about Rapuzel but I am.

This is what I expect Britney's nether regions to look like. (small people included)

@5 - LMFAO!

@4 - I agree. Razpunzel has never been interesting...but when I saw the trailer, I decided that "the kids really want to see this"...regardless of their actual wishes.

3 I thought it was called avoid getting away from the feeding trough. Pigs are finicky eaters. Give me fucking uncanny alley for christ sake.

@7: Let me try to parse out your comment.

Point 1: Virtual human skin in computer animations hasn't changed since Toy Story
Well, that's bullshit. Look at a still of Andy from TS1 and TS3.

Point 2: Computer animators have avoided creating more realistic skin because they want to "avoid getting away from" (awkward double negative) "the trough," which I take to mean the paying public. "Pigs are finicky eaters."
What are you saying, that viewers don't like more realistically animated humans? As evidenced by what, Christmas Carol being hugely successful? Face it, uncanny valley sells.

Point 3: "Give me my uncanny alley"
You are an idiot.

they're having sex under all that hair blanket. great movie for kids.
