Jul 26 2010'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides' Con Teaser Decides Jack Sparrow Knows He's a Film Character
Forcing Johnny Depp to fulfill absolutely all of the obligations he never noticed in his Pirates of the Caribbean contract, Disney decided to make Depp dress up in his full Jack Sparrow gear and make a fourth-wall breaking, Penelope Cruz-acknowledging, in-character On Stranger Tides teaser for Comic Con--perfect if you thought the last Pirates' insane desert scenes were just too REAL, and you need a reminder that it's all just a movie that will soon co-star Penelope Cruz.
Boy, does that reek of a video that plays before the theme park ride.

Someone in some semblance of power decided something is better than nothing - without a frame of video shot, better to have Depp talking to the camera than a Comic Con without a Pirates pitch.
Someone in some semblance of power was very...very wrong.

Why not just name it, "Black Pearl: The Penelope Cruise Ship!"

So, does this mean that Horseface will finally learn to speak english so that we can understand what the fuck she is saying?

I agree with #1, this felt rushed and uninspired... in fact, it may have just ruined any of my hopes i had for this movie :( IwatchStuff guy nailed it; it was exactly like one of those intros for a theme park ride (in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they made a ride like this based on the movies... if the movies weren't already based on a ride...)
And was it just me or did Depp look a bit different? almost sickly or tired or something.

His wig was different. Very different. It actually distracted me from the video.

No but there was something about him that was REALLY off, like it was an impersonator doing an impression of Depp, rather than it actually being him doing the role...

I once was a big Johnny depp fan, :/ I really like his acting and all but in the last 10 years he's become a Tim Burton / Disney puppet and it kinda gets stupid I kinda miss the days where he did movies like Benny and Joon & Ed wood (yeah i know tim burton movie but i think that's one of the last few where he actually was great to see :D)
And yeah i agree with 5 and 7 @.@ the hair kinda freaked me out too
lol anyway I saw all the pirate movies but i think i'll wait for this one till it comes out on DVD to rent it and still see it

Depp needs to focus on some quality work again. Although it is of course possible that he's continuing this garbage to do his kids a favour. I got tired of the whole pirate thing about half-way throught the second film. Now they're bringing in that terrible Cruz woman. Nobody over 15 cares anymore. Just listen to that little speech they "wrote" for him. Sad.

Was that an alcohol advertisement? Go Disney, inspire the youth...
15. jaime - July 27, 2010 4:43 PM
i find Penelope Boobz much more likable than the previous female pirate.
@14, yeah cause alcohol is the world's biggest problem that people allow to happen or make films about... it's so much worse than those guns people have in their houses, or those aids people have in their bloodses.
please leave the internet now.

Its will be better than most of the other movies being made now. Like the tons of undercover (girl, guy) who dosent know their (friend, spouse, brother, sister, mom) is also an undercover (girl, guy) and now a government is after them and can they trust the other(girl, guy) ?
And 100's of romantic comedies that are neither funny or romantic, more like a (day, week, year) in the year of some person you dont care about.
I will be out to watch it, most likely with enough other people to make it #1 for several weeks.

I, for one, am quite happy about the new Pirate's movie. I still think Johnny Depp is a great pirate, and a very nice actor. Same for Penelope Cruz. I think a pirate is the perfect role for that woman. I also think she'll be marvelous beside Depp. I am perfectly excited for this movie.
