Pinto, Lithgow Joining That Planet of Photorealistic Apes

Making Rise of the Apes a little more sexy and Lithgowy, John Lithgow and Slumdog Millionaire's Freida Pinto have joined Fox's Planet of the Apes prequel. THR says Lithgow will play human scientist James Franco's Alzheimer's-stricken father, whose condition is what leads Harry Osborn to begin experimentation on chimps, and we all know what that leads to: Charlton Heston/Mark Wahlberg ape hatred. Pinto will play a fellow scientist--specifically a primatologist. Presumably, both she and Franco will wear glasses sometimes so we understand they're intellectuals while still finding them attractive enough to enjoy an audience chuckle when an evolved ape calls them "ugly humans."
