May 24 2010Here Comes a Seltzer/Friedberg 'Twilight' Parody Film
No longer will The Twilight Saga remain a universally-respected, completely un-mocked, horror-romance franchise. Aaron Seltzer and Jason Friedberg--the take pride in attaching their names to Date Movie, Disaster Movie, Meet the Spartans, etc.--reportedly have decided glittery vampires and hunky werewolves are ripe for parody, and have a still-untitled "comedy" coming out in August that will finally take aim at the seemingly-untouchable series thanks to 20th Century Fox. Take that, Twilight! I always knew there were jokes to be made about you! And now it seems those jokes will come in the form of Carmen Electra pretending to act, some references to homosexuality, and, most likely, farting. Yay!

I always thought the movie itself was a parody of vampire movies.
Just like the books.
And the Merchandise.
I remain confused

Let's get something perfectly clear. "Parody" involves MUCH more than simply rehashing key scenes and mugging your way through it ("mugging" is making exaggerated faces to hint to an audience that something is supposed to be "funny").
These so-called "parody" films are some of the laziest shit I've ever seen. They don't even bother altering a scene enough to put a personal "stamp" on it. They just run through it pretty much as the original. What is so fucking "funny" about that? So a guy does a great Jack Sparrow imitation. So fucking what?
It's like listening to a "best of" album of your favorite band - done by someone else - and they don't have that thing called "talent". They are just mimicks. What's the fucking point? Just listen to original cut of the orginal album by the original performers.

That's funny! Carmen Electra pretending to act!
Who do you think MadTv's Crista will pretend to be now?

This looks pretty funny. Also, I saw that Bryan Callen from Mad TV was n this 41 year-old virgin mvie. He was funny as Pool Boy, so I gave it a shot. When it started I thought that there was no way they could spoof the comedies they were making fun of, but they did, and it was pretty good. If you can stand an R rating then this delivers some big laughs. It is stupid, but that's what I like about spoofs. Some college kids will be watching this instead of doing their homework.
