'Dilbert' Movie Probably Not a Good Idea, But Still...

Dilbert, the long-running comic that spawned an animated series, decades of daily calendars, and a mug that still makes Dad chuckle every time he takes a sip of coffee, will apparently next beget a film. Pajiba reports the erect-tied character will be following the unfortunate path of his funny page co-workers Garfield and Marmaduke, and that the film will be live-action take on the franchise, offering audiences a rare glimpse at Dilbert's pupils and hairline--and, we can only dream, use of CGI to put some glasses and a moving mouth on a Jack Russell Terrier.
Phoenix Entertainment has signed Ken Kwapis to direct, which offers up little hope. His record of directing some episodes of pretty respectable television shows (The Larry Sanders Show, Freaks & Geeks, The Office) is thoroughly marred by his film run, which includes: Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, He's Just Not That Into You, and License to Wed.
