Mar 18 2010Turkeys and Time Travel Merged for Some Reason
Every year, between Halloween and December, the time comes when the commercials about witches buying La-Z-Boys and Frankenstein getting low financing end and yet it's not quite time for Santa to appear in that Fruity Pebbles ad they run every year. During this brief span of a few weeks, we're treated to a very special series of unbearable commercials, when Pilgrims buy big screen TVs for the first Thanksgiving, Native Americans offer gifts of Black Friday sales, and, inevitably, some turkeys try to con their way out of being made into dinner. Be it through flight (turkey hitchhiking, turkey waiting for a bus), disguise (turkey wearing Groucho Marx glasses), or diversion (turkey holding an "eat ham" sign), these turkeys are going to avoid being cooked through all kinds of methods that must have apparently sounded hilarious to the guys in the writing room. And even though it's actually not at all hilarious, it's still tolerable because it's so expected and, more importantly, at least it's only 30 seconds at a time.
But christ, an hour-and-a-half of one of these "turkeys hate Thanksgiving!" gags? That would be terrible. Yes, it probably will be:
[Bedrock Studios] announced their first project Wednesday -- animated buddy pic "Turkeys," which is in pre-production, with Ash Brannon ("Toy Story 2) directing. The turkeys, voiced by Owen Wilson and Woody Harrelson, discover a time machine and travel back to the first Thanksgiving to take themselves off the menu."Turkeys," aimed for a 2011 release, is written and produced by John J. Strauss ("There's Something About Mary") and David I. Stern ("Open Season 2"). Luke Wilson is also voicing a character, and Peter Farrelly will exec produce.
Nobler turkeys would have first killed Hitler.

Right, because nobody ate turkey until the first thanksgiving. The Native Americans just came up with it on the spot!

Really? This guy is boasting about his 'Open Season 2' credit?
And i think Owen Wilson has been shun from live action movies altogether, hence his reliance on cgi animal characters recently
