Mar 16 2010RDJ Is Cuaron's Space Team Leader
Robert Downey, Jr. cast in a movie that sounds really good? That's right, person from 2001 who knows Downey as a drug addict who just got fired from Ally McBeal. Things have changed--RDJ is cleaned up, he's a big deal again, and he's going to be in Alfonso Cuarón's Gravity:
Robert Downey Jr is negotiating a deal to star in Gravity, the 3D space film directed by Alfonso Cuaron.Downey will play the leader of a team posted at a remote space station. While he and a female colleague are traveling outside the space station, the other team members are decimated by debris from an exploded satellite.
The script for Gravity had been developed originally at Universal with the intention of having Angelina Jolie play the female role. Much of the film is devoted to her struggle to get back to Earth and her daughter. Jolie passed on the project around the time Universal cut it loose.
Also, 2001 time traveler: I have some bad news about Friends.

OK this is nitpicking, but goddammit...
Decimate means to kill one in every ten of a group, usually by a lottery. It starts with "deci" for a reason! Modern usage has changed that to mean "destroy a large portion of a group," but still, decimate refers to something done to a group as a whole. "The rest of the team was decimated..." would be appropriate, assuming that at least some of the team besides the two named survive, or "the crew was decimated, leaving only RDJ & [not-Angelina-Jolie]," could also be correct.
But god damn it, "the other team members are decimated by debris from an exploded satellite" is just fucking awful. Seriously, someone needs to go through a remedial English class before being allowed to write professionally.

No, decimate means reduce to 1/10th. 9/10 are destroyed. Not 1/10.

No, it means to reduce BY 1/10th. Look it up, they have dictionaries online now.
It comes from a Roman practice of punishing mutineers by having them line up and count 1-10 and killing every 10th man.

Two Girls and a Guy - Best RDJ movie ever. You get to see him (high as a kite) singing then he eats out Heather Graham. I bet he wishes he remembered it.

"Much of the film is devoted to her struggle to get back to Earth and her daughter" Ummm.. haven't we see this before? Does the name Ripley ring any bells?
