Feb 3 2010Oh, Right, 'Avatar' Still Had Another Box Office Record To Break

Sick of hearing about how much money someone who isn't you is making? Me too! Still though, just in case it comes up on the Jeopardy! teen tournament, you should know that, in addition to having made more money worldwide than any other film, Avatar has now also made the most money domestically with a still-rising gross of over $601 million.

Treat yourself to something nice, James Cameron. My philosophy has always been, everything over $600 million (domestic) should be considered "fun money."

FIGHTING WORDS

count me out of that number. haven't given mr. cameron a cent on this yet. i'll probably netflix it tho.

Unless you see it in 3D its not worth seeing at all in my opinion

How? This movie wasn't even that good.

Why 'Avatar' is actually the 26th biggest movie

@3.....I agree halfway....yes....in 3D its fucking INCREDIBLE! But I have also seen it in 2D and while its not nearly as good, the movie is still exactly the SAME MOVIE.

@4.....Obviously it was good enough to warrant all the people to see it over and over and over which has caused to be the highest grossing movie of all time.

On Saturday, its 37th day, Avatar surpassed The Dark Knight's $533.3 million total to become the second highest-grossing movie of all time, though, in terms of attendance, it likely hasn't yet cracked the Top 50. At its current trajectory, Avatar will exceed Titanic's $600.8 million total within two weeks.

Had I not been sober the first time, I would not have seen it a second time.

He's come a long way since his days as a Canadian truck driver . . .

I'm just glad that James Cameron and Rupert Murdoch are making more money. It's so much easier for me to sleep now.

Isn't "over 601 million" already more than $600.8? Did #8 really mean to say he only saw it a second time because he *wasn't* drunk the first time? Will Netflix survive its agreement not to release new movies until they're old? Will the iPad, entirely for media-consumption, flop because media-providers (like Warner Brothers or the publishing companies that want an eBook to cost as much as a real book) can't grasp a new business model?
