Let's Buy Movie Things for Haiti

inglourious-basterds-auctio.jpg

Want to express your movie nerdiness and also have the right to go to work and brag, "I gave some money to Haiti. What have you uncaring fucks ever done?" Here are some chances.

1. The Lost Art of Inglourious Basterds. Tomorrow from 6 to 9, go to The Upper Playground Art Gallery in Downtown Los Angeles and buy a print. Over a dozen artists each created a unique design based on the film, and they've been printed in extremely limited editions and signed by Tarantino. The $300 price tag goes to the American Red Cross. You can see the other artists' works on the official website, but you'll have to put on socks and go there if you want to buy. Sorry.

2. Bid on these three Where the Wild Things Are prints signed by Spike Jonze and cinematographer Lance Acord. Perfect for non-verbally telling people, yes, you did like Where the Wild Things Are even though there wasn't much of a plot; that wasn't really the point. Proceeds go to Oxfam International

(Thanks, angellim and Mike, both heroes.)

If you're a fan of both this year's Oscar favorites and the terrible humans of Jersey Shore, I've got just what you want to gape at with a baffled stare: the cast of brain-wrecking MTV show recreating scenes from this year's Best Picture batch, thanks to Mr. G. Lopez (TBS, very... / Continue →
