If a comic book character isn't popular enough to support its own comic line, what makes the producers think its popular enough to support a mainstream movie?

I guess I'll never understand Hollywood.

Disney really needs movies like this to pan out to make any money off that $4 billion acquisition of Marvel. Good luck with that!

@7 I agree completely. Even if Marvel was pushing for these movies before, it would make a lot of sense for Disney from a financial standpoint. Disney will of course start to market the crap out of little stuffed Ant-Man dolls etc. Unfortunately for everyone who cares, the whole Disney-fication of Marvel's properties means that some of these movies are going to be "funny" and that would totally suck.

That said, An Ant-Man movie wouldn't be the worst idea if they do it right and soon to introduce the character to get him into the Avengers movie.

I expected too much from ironman but i was not totally satisfied. And now a new concept like 'antman;. What the hell is marvel thinking! So if they want to risk their money, they can make it.

It's not about how silly the concept is, just watch his "Cornetto trilogy" (Shaun, Hot Fuzz, World's End), he delivers despite his own silliness.

I don't think this funny concept is gonna work at all. Antman! What the hell that is that even mean! People are so bored on these heroes and super humans. Please give us a break.

Rather than it being something that's a terrible thing to happen, it's actually making your character into the most bad ass sort of action hero/spy possible.

I heard the movie was about ant manual, ant mania, ant manifest, ant mandibles, ant man action figure, ant mantis, ant management, apache ant manual, blue ant manual, ant mania game, more or less :)
