I advise anyone who has not seen it yet to do so. Avatar looked good to me but nothing could prepare me for the experience. I was more interested in the exploration of the world Cameron created than I was the story, it was that interesting.

Also, see it in 3d. Do not bother doing otherwise. The movie does not do the "in your face" garbage that has made me hate almost every other 3d movie. It is subtle but always present so that it does not take you out of the movie.

Speaking of 3D, has anyone taken into account the extra couple of bucks per ticket avatar is getting because of the 3D sales? Or is the calculated out to determine box office records? I mean if we look at the 3D prices, then a 3D movie could sell less tickets than a non-3D and still make more money.

I am usually cheap when it comes to what movies I see. However for Avatar, because I knew how much effort Cameron put into the 3D, I went and saw it on Imax in 3D. It was $17.50.

I saw Avatar (in 3D) this weekend and was shocked at just HOW awful it was. The acting and dialogue is just horrendous. And Sam-What's-His-Face can't even disguise his accent. Painful to sit through, especially for three hours...

@7: I'm perfectly comfortable with the acting and writing in Avatar being nothing special. It's so damn gorgeous, and the action so supremely directed, I just can't bring myself to care that much. Also, who says Sam Worthington needs to hide his accent? There won't be Australians in the future?
