Jan 14 2010Webb May Direct Spider-Man, Probably Just Because of His Name

Marc Webb has been given the classic "OK, I'll go to prom with you, unless someone better comes along." The (500) Days of Summer director is reportedly at the top of Sony's list for directing the Spider-Man reboot. But he doesn't have the job yet: the studio also has a wish list with names like James Cameron, David Fincher, and Wes Anderson on it, because apparently no one at Sony has seen a Wes Anderson film but heard he did something with a "fox man" that must be comparable. Basically, the people in charge of Spider-Man have no idea what they're doing or what direction they want to go with it and are frantically grasping at anything. So no one send them that Japanese Spider-Man video in the next few months, or they're probably going to start thinking giving him a Megazord isn't such a bad idea.

Oh god please NOT Cameron... anyone but Cameron. And Schumacher, almost anyone else would be better.

#1... be careful what you say. Michael Bay might be listening.

Why doesn't Marvel just adapt something, word for word from a writer like Zeb Wells, Warren Ellis or Duane Sweirzczynskczkski?

just sa-

I can't believe i got the picture right away.

WHO'S THE BEST!?!? THIS GUY IS!!

How about Pedro Almovodar - Imagine what he could do with Spidey and MJ.

How about Tarantino does a Spiderman vs. The Punisher (they could get a Fourth actor to play Frank Castle).

How about Pixar does a full scale animated Spiderman.

Or Scorcese maybe. He does great Maffia. How about Spiderman vs Kingpin and all the other Marvel maffia bad guys who of course hire the whole rogue's galler y to go after our hero.

I for one would kill for a Wes Anderson directed Spiderman - even if it means JK Simmons will be replaced by Bill Murray as JJ... that is a hit I would be willing to take.

@6...

I hadn't even thought about J. Jonah Jameson...I guess the reboot means we won't be getting anymore JK Simmons as JJJ. That makes me want to have one of those crying fits where you start to dry heave a little because you're so upset.

That pic is a winner.

Ha! One of your funniest posts in a while. The thing about fox-man... just brilliant.

I, for one, am not opposed to a Spiderman movie with animated singing birds, Ingmar Bergman spoofs, and Zooey Deschanel.

Really though, come on, the only choice is David Lynch. Can someone throw a trailer for that together, ala A Goofy Movie?

Oh, and shut the fuck up Jaime, T2 and Aliens are better than Spiderman movies could DREAM of being.

Stop motion spiderman!

If Zooey D is in it, I'm cool. She was the only good thing in that hot mess "500 Days of Summer". Or do people really like watching some jerkoff act like a bitch for 2 hours? Maybe I'm just out of touch...

Why do they make sequels when they can just reboot every franchise on an annual basis
