Jan 19 2010Ut Oh, Jay, Someone Has a Good Memory and a Six-Year-Old 'Tonight Show' DVR'ed

I always get mixed up with the terms: is this dramatic irony or just hypocrisy? Either way, it's perfect.

Wow, I almost believed him. What a dick.

I'd like to see Conan put that on air!

First Let me say I am on "Team Conan", I do not think Jay Leno is funny or like his show. I do however love conans show. With that said I think this is all on the NBC Executives more than Jay. Sure Jay is kind of a douch`e, But I am getting the feeling he was yanked right in the middle of this by the Network execs. Maybe I am wrong and he is behind everything but it does'nt look that way at the moment.

This sounds exactly like what Jay explained last night. Conan was courted by other networks, he was going to keep the Show #1 and hand it off to Conan. I agree with #3 - NBC screwed this up, not Jay or Conan.

Jay is a workaholic, he's making sure, he's getting his show back, damn the Execs and/or Conan....period.

Sure the network has no class, but Jay has no problem moving back. Conan took a higher road and said he would not hurt the Tonight Show and was willing to give it up over it. Jay could have said, no, it's Conan's show, I took a shot at prime time, screwed it up, I had my chance. He didn't.

Yeah, it will be great to see what happens if Jay doesn't bring back the high ratings for The Tonight Show. Either way when he is ready to retire (which I guess wouldn't be for a while?) who else do they have? Could you imagine Jimmy Fallon taking over?

Indian giver.

lol, pretty funny how what jay didnt want to happen is happening.

The only redeeming part for Leno is when he spoke about his desire to keep his staff employed in the midst of our current failing economy.

Sure, Conan looks like a hero because he won't compromise. But if he had, his staff would keep thier jobs.

There are more people involved in this than Conan and Leno.

Conan proves once again that nice guys finish last. However, I'll take Conan's integrity over Jay and NBC every time. Jay is easily manipulated and NBC knows he's in their back pocket no matter what.

When Jay finally does quit, NBC is going to mount him in a case with the words "Break Glass in case of Host Emergency".

So...I haven't been following. Does Conan get the money if he leaves that was due to him if NBC screwed him over or not?

You know, I could give a modest crap about all this if I I thought either of them were actually funny. Which they're not. So I don't. EOM.

Conan sucks, I could care less if this loser leaves.

Conan's fans are the type that blame Jay for this whole thing, Sorry Conan, I'm not that immature, and thus not one of your fans. I could give a crap less if you leave or not, as long as I don't have to sit through your pathetic monologue every night, all is good.

What a jaytard

The only thing this proves is that it was NOT Jay's decision to take back the Tonight Show. He was being very sincere last night, explaining just what the Boss's at NBC said. And remember, when circumstances change and new information is received, decisions can change. Happens all the time people, get over it. Conan is still making out great. Jay back at The Tonight Show, now I'm happy.

I think we can all agree that David Letterman rules.

Wow this would be hilarious if conan showed this on air LOL go CO CO

I don't see what this proves. This is what Jay has agreed happened all along. The only difference is that he's also recently said that because he was still under contract with NBC, he's stayed on the channel. NBC is supposedly the one that decided a prime time talk show made sense, and NBC is the one that decided Jay should move to a later time slot.

It's kinda stupid that Jay's been made into the bad guy here when he wasn't even allowed to retire. Jay couldn't have left the network.

And let's face it, if Conan's ratings had been better than Letterman's, it's highly unlikely that NBC would have started all of this.

i believed him lololololol

Funny how all the NBC rats came into this discussion to defend Jay Leno half way through the comments. "Uh oh, better say some positive things about Jay and negative things about Conan" or "quick, put on the logical persona and blame the network and not Jay so Jay is more likeable and the common enemy is NBC."

BS. Jay even released a statement after Conan did that he's considering not coming back because of how Conan feels. He went back on that too. The guy is two-faced and I don't know anybody under the age of 45 who watches Leno and his bs PR campaign to get his ratings back.

Johnny was right to choose Dave over Jay: Johnny, an old school entertainment guy could see right through Jay's slime-ball tactics. Dave and Conan aren't perfect, but are at least accountable. Not to mention, how many comedians do you actually see supporting Leno? Yeah. None.

Screw Leno, Jay's an arrogant asshole that only appeals to safe, lame comedy for middle rural america. Fuck Jay, fuck his whiny voice, his shitty jokes, his bad writers, and the tonight show. I hope the tonight show burns to the ground along with the rest of NBC.
