Two Michael Ceras, Amy Adams, Vampires Unable To Topple 'Avatar'

The combined forces of Daybreakers, Leap Year, and Youth in Revolt were barely able to crack into the top five at the box office this weekend. Meanwhile, Avatar continues to become Earth's official film:

1. Avatar - $48.5 million. Still raking it in despite the director's hesitance to give annoying a-holes autographs. (thanks, Jesse)

2. Sherlock Holmes - $16.6 million, barely eking out a win over Alvin. Or should I say... SQUEAKING out a win! In reference to the squeaking of chipmunks, even though I've never heard a chipmunk's noise, let alone described it as squeaking, until Alvin and the Chipmunks 2.

3. Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel - $16.3 million. Why wait for chipmunks to evolve into intelligent, musical beings when computers allow us to imagine it today?

4. Daybreakers - $15 million. American interest in vampires wasn't able to compensate for America's inherent cautiousness towards political and moral allegory.

5. It's Complicated - $11 million. Meryl Streep gets action from so many older men actors.
