Jan 6 2010'Robocop', 'Spider-Man 4' Taking Forever To Hit Theaters
I hope you weren't too excited about Spider-Man 4 or Darren Aronofsky's Robocop remake, because it doesn't sound like either of those are happening any time soon. According to Variety, director Sam Raimi and studio heads are still at odds with the newest Spider-Man script: Raimi is fighting to make Vulture the primary proantagonist (whups!); the studio, rightfully thinking that kids might not buy as many action figures of a winged bald man, wants to cram Black Cat in there too for a s.e.x.y. subplot.
Moviehole, meanwhile, reports Robocop has been put on hold due to another studio versus director dispute: MGM chair Mary Parent want the film to be shot in 3D; Aronofsky isn't having it.
Why can't all these directors and studios just get along so we can get on with making the overstuffed sequels and unnecessary remakes that allow me to not have to digest any original thoughts? If they don't hurry up, I'm going to have to give in and see a movie that doesn't have easily recognizable characters. Wait, never mind, Karate Kid with is coming soon enough. Take your time, guys. I'll just be here basking in Will Smith Jr. jump kicks.

Well, it's nice to know that Darren Aronofsky hasn't abandoned Robocop, but...

Too much 3D already.

Yeah, I typed Movieline and not Moviehole at first too. It's been going round.

Don't remake Robocop.
LEAVE MURPHY ALONE!

Oh, whoops. I fixed it now. Good to know someone besides me is making mistakes like this. I just assumed it was the usual case of me being incredibly incompetent.

Vulture as a primary PROTAGONIST? This Spidey movie is going to be FUCKED UP.

So we can make realistic looking Jurrasic dinosaurs (in the mid 1990s!) and we're almost at TV in 3D but we can't make a Spiderman movie with the Lizard or Electro. Vulture's ok but not by himself. How about Kraven or the Rhino or Mysterio. A seriously crazy serial killer Mysterio would be fun for Spidey to contend with. And with Venom being underused, how about Topher's cellmate becoming Carnage.
For some reason, Raimi likes to kill off villans so an Insidious Six can't work. But what he needs to do is hit the action HARD to save this franchise. We don't need or want a love story with the Black Cat.

It THE LIZARD is not the PROTAGONIST then it better be CARNAGE or Spiderman 4 will be a FLOP. The people are still warry from SPIDER-EMO 3!

How could anyone think Robocop in 3D is a bad idea? Perhaps any director so resistant to flashy technological gimmicks doesn't actually know what Robocop is about and should stick to excruciatingly boring films about floating trees.

Let's see, they make a godawful 3rd film, take forever to decide they're going to make more, take even more forever to put the deal together, then start arguing with the director over the script because the action figures won't be popular enough (and what "kids" do they think Black Cat is appropriate for? she does naughty adult things with Spidey!).
Looks like Sony is on the way to being the next W("we killed the Superman franchise and still can't figure out how to make a Wonder Woman movie")B.
Marvel should just buy back the rights. Oh sorry, that's Disney. Hey! At least they can probably afford it!

What's really funny about #10. post is that the first paragraph is also applicable to ROBOCOP... I mean, that's assuming you don't think ROBOCOP 2 is terrible too.

Hm, I kinda want to see what Arronofsky would DO with 3D. I'm torn.
