Jan 19 2010MacGruber Trailer Takes an Upper-Decker in the Red-Band Toilet
From the minds of WIll Forte, an SNL staff writer, and one of the Lonely Island guys comes a fashionably late television show parody sketch taken to its logical and inevitable conclusion: expensive motion picture. Angus MacGuyver may not have ever made it the big show, but his proudly tardy spoof counterpart MacGruber has got that shit covered.
In this special 30x longer installment of MacGruber, the titular special operative is tasked with confronting the evil Deiter Von Cunth who, on top of having a name that's conspicuously close to offensive slang for the babyhole, has stolen a nuclear warhead and plans to level Washington D.C.
The trailer's jokes may rely a bit too much on MacGruber's blithe ignorance in conversation, but there are a few moments of genuine hilarity when Forte takes advantage of the film's presumed R rating. Because if anything can lift a Saturday Night Live movie above the doldrums of It's Pat or Night at the Roxbury, it's un-bleeped F-words.
And Ryan Phillipe.
No watching this trailer unless you're legally allowed to smoke and buy this month's Hustler, OK?

Well I found the sketch's on SNL funny so Ill check this out when it hits DVD, but no way in hell I would pay 9 bucks to see it in a theater.

People who have seen early screeners are pretty positive about it, saying it destroys all other SNL movies post Wayne's World(not that that is hard at all). Hopefully this turns out to be a nice retarded but funny comedy. I'd certainly take Will Forte and Jorm(of Lonely Island) over most comedy writers of late.

I like Forte's stand-up, or at least what it was 3 years ago, don't know how much it has changed.... but I hope he makes a career out of SNL soon.

The jokes in this are about 5:2 shit, but the thing about the wires is funny. I also like the several mentions of MacGruber having died in... well, all of his skits. I'm kinda disappointed he's not doing anything... MacGrubery. It just looks like a generic action hero farce. I expected more jokes about making life-saving inventions out of household materials.
But look! Val Kilmer reinvented as a fugly villain! That's something I can live with. Dude's got comedy chops, he was hilarious in Willow.
Also, "Deiter Von Cunth [has] a name that's conspicuously close to offensive slang for the babyhole," is one of the most hilarious phrases I've heard. That's like saying, "Neggar has a name that's conspicuously close to offensive slang for a jungle bunny."
