Jan 28 2010Goodbye, Old Friend: Miramax Officially Gone

miramax.jpg

After 31 years of operation, Miramax, the Weinstein-founded company known for its independent spirit, is closing the doors on its New York and LA offices today, officially killing the company. The closure will put 80 people out of their jobs, and your Pulp Fiction and Clerks DVDs will stop working by the end of the week. Truly, the end of an era, and of course it happens the day after I finish writing a film with lot of really clever dialogue that may be too edgy for mainstream audiences.

That's rough. They've produced/distributed a lot of great films over the years.

That's what you get when you pass on LOTR, bitches.

Later MIRAMAX, good job on killing Brandon Lee. Thanks to your low production values and hiring a witless equipment / weapon manger, you succeeded in destroying a rising star that would surely have made a great(er) mark on american cinema. Kill yourself, or die trying.

As Erica said, shouldn't have passed on Lord of the Rings Miramax--definitely kicking yourself now, eh?

suck it jewsteins! and ben whofleck

um, it's not owned by the weinsteins anymore. they were bought out by whatever studio they had distribution with.

@Erica and @Brian - New Line made LOTR and they're out of business too...soooooooooo moot point?

Ha ha!

It will be replaced in 5 seconds. Right...now.

There is obviously a lot to know about this. I think you made some good points in Features also. sankjgfbsd
