The biggest news about bttf III is the giant plot hole.
a) There would have already been a delorean in the old west. It was the one doc was sent back in time in by the lightning strike.
b) gasoline was readily available during that time period as a waste product of refining kerosene.

While there may have been gas available, they could not use the the Delorean that doc was sent back in because he had to leave it for Marty to use in the 50's. If they did use it, Marty would have never been able to go back to get doc in the first place. At least...this is according to their space/time logic.
And my vote is for perverse dwarf. That was just weird.
