Dec 15 2009'Robin Hood' Trailer: Begin Your Comparisons to 'Gladiator'

robin-hood-intl-trailer.jpg

It's Robin Hood time, everyone! Director Ridley Scott and Russell Crowe have again teamed up to bring us a new telling of the legendary thief, and now there's a trailer for us to judge. No word on how long until Mel Brooks will have a spoof version prepared.

Wait, I'm confused. Isn't Robin Hood an anthropomorphic fox?

Troy sucked.

Mel Brooks? Try the Wayans brothers.

OMG, the guy who directed Gladiator and Russel Crowe, I've got high hopes for this movie, even if it does end up closely resembling Gladiator.

After reading this post , my heart a long time can not be quiet, shake ah! Why is there such a good post! Why is there such a good post!

Maximus as: Robin Hood.

Ridley Scott + Russell Crow = consistently awesome movies

Lame.... Why remake movies that are already freaking awesome!? Robin Hood Prince of Thieves by Kevin Reynolds was great. Why does Ridley Scoot want to screw up my wonderful childhood memories with this? Why not just make a different movie with a similar story. Hell copy the story, just don't call it Robin Hood.....

Alan Rickman FTW!

"I will tear your heart out with a spoon!"

Joshua Simone . . .you mean KEVIN COSTNER right????
I thought the movie was awful . . . Kevin Costner couldnt hold an accent and was acted off the screen by everyone else . . . same as Christian Slater. . . plus the useless subplot with that old witch lady just made it silly. Alan Rickman was excellent . . but hopefully this will right the wrongs of Prince of Thieves.

Sorry Joshua . . . . Kevin Reynolds directed it. . . totally forgot .. . .

Looks like a great movie. Ridley Scott is a great director.

Lmao ! i saw it. it wobbles !

bad russle crow.. bad

Ridley Scott will always hole a dear place in my heart when he made the first Alien

Hahaha, great find, took me 2 tries to figure it out.

Maybe they came out with rubber/leather shields to maximize weight against protection. I wouldn't want to be holding a 50 pound metal shield on the shore.

Ridley Scott makes great movies, but like everyone has been saying: this movie has been done. I mean, Russell Crowe even has the exact same haircut / beard as he did in Gladiator. Move along...

@7: Really? Really? You never heard of Robin Hood: Men in Tights? Damn.

This movie looks utterly devoid of joy. How did we go from the delightful swashbuckling of Erol Flynn to this grim, humorless affair? When I think Robin Hood, I think wry wit and devilish charm, not misery and brutality.

Looks more like a Brave Heart remake to me. I mean look at the guy @ 1:01. Anyone else smell closet-homosexual-prince subplot? Well I do. And it reeks of chainmail and astroglide.

I'll be #2 to stand up for Prince of Theives. Costner's loving paternal Robin Locksley was a great rendering, and we've got enough angst in Hollywood. This trailer looks like it's trying to straddle too many lines... turning an adventure/outlaw story into a war story, making Robin Hood a grimacing, angsty anti-hero, and only paying about 10 seconds of homage to the guy's supposedly unstoppable skill with a bow and arrow. Is there even a love story here?

I guess I'll have to wait and see. I loved Prince of Thieves, though. Who cares if Costner didn't spend two hours trying to force a British accent? The English language was barely recognizable at the time anyway.

Wait - is it me or did the preview have absolutely no message other than it's a period drama directed by Ridley, starring Russel and it's about Robin Hood. Not even close to inspiring me to watch it. Although to be honest - I did love the RUBBER shields they were carrying in the "running" scene on the beach....

That's Sir Ridley Scott to you rabble.
