Dec 23 2009'Knight and Day' Contains the Alpha and the Omega Cruise
Someone decided to take smarmy douche Tom Cruise from Jerry Maguire, super spy Tom Cruise from Missions Impossible, and Tom Cruise with assistance from Cameron Diaz from Vanilla Sky and cram all these distinct characters into a The Fly style telepod. This is the grotesque, single figure that emerged from the other side:
Those two are as different as NIGHT! ... and DAY! And also their names are probably Knight and Day or something!
With Bounty Hunter coming to theaters as well, I feel like I must have won a Stockholm syndrome-based action-romantic-comedy sweepstakes.
(Thanks, Brayden.)

from creepy to "comedic" and back again in 2.5 seconds.
this made me feel uncomfortable.

I love how the MOST ridiculous part of this movie is that they make Gay Cruise look as tall as Diaz.

I... actually would want to see this. It seems like they might have hit upon the way to make Cruise marketable again. We all know he's a complete loon now, so as long as he plays people who are nuts, it works.

I think you meant to write "those two are as different"

I have to agree with #3, Cruise does crazy well what with it not being a stretch in the least. The "I'll kill myself and then her" line actually made me smile.

I hate to admit this, but.. it actually looks kind of funny... probably quite funny. Yes,Tom Cruise is crazy, but he's just an actor, so that doesn't really effect the movie for me.

I saw the trailer for this movie at Avatar...it looks so bad.

Jeremiah: You're right. So I fixed it.

I'll wait for it to come on cable.

Looks great to me. Being one of the few people to actually form their own opinion about actors (in other words, someone who doesn't think it's awesome to hate Tom Cruise on the basis of the media saying he's crazy), I can't wait.

I think it looks good. But Tom is only going to give my money to those crazy Scientologists, so I won't be going.

@10: Right with you. I love Tom Cruise and his movies. I don't worry about whatever goofy things he does in real life.
13. matt - December 23, 2009 11:55 PM
@10: I agree this movie could be pretty good. At least worth a few chuckles. But, Tom Cruise is a scientologist, and, therefore, crazy... or retarded... or both. I'm not going to boycott a decent movie just cause some actor is nuts.. but yeah, he is nuts.

Being someone who is from boston who lives in Loa Angeles I know that in Boston 93 is NOT called "the I-93" and no self respecting bostonian would ever call it that or even think to call it that because california is the only place where highways are prefixed with "the".

Comparing Diaz in Vanilla Sky to this is like comparing tits to a pile of dog shit

If you look at it from a certain standpoint, anyone of any faith can be seen as crazy. However I think Tom is a good actor so I may see it in the theaters.

I feel like it's supposed to be funny, in that camp-humor sort of way; like I'm supposed to know that neither one of them buy the roles that they're playing, a kind of spy thriller meta narrative that by its very nature is humorous.
But.
I've never believed a word Cameron Diaz has ever uttered in any role, ever. So when she's describing these events, I'm not sure if she's supposed to be ineffectively emoting or if she's really trying for Oscar Gold.
Secondly, Tom Cruise is always Tom Cruise for me at this point; which btw has nothing to do with my judging him for his personal beliefs or his religious affiliation. It's just that his face is instantly recognizable a

Secondly, Tom Cruise is always Tom Cruise for me at this point; which btw has nothing to do with my judging him for his personal beliefs or his religious affiliation. It's just that his face is instantly recognizable as a world-renowned actor who, to his credit, has been believable in several roles over his nearly 30 year career. So. I think he's trying to be funny, I think he's being flip and glib and all those words for which he's become infamous, including crazy...but I *know* he's acting, because he's been this guy before in several dramatic performances.
From a marketing POV, this is pure gold--those two are famous in a way most actors aren't, and audiences will see them pair up for just about anything especially if it's meant to be a tongue-in-cheek romp through each of their respective careers, playing pseudo-somebodies they've each played before, just not together.
No, I'm not going to pay to see it and since it isn't necessarily my favorite genre, I probably won't download it free, either.
But hey...
It might work.

Tom Cruise, even in his most badass knight form, is no match against this Little Billy dude:
