Dec 3 2009'Iron Man' Poster: Some Expressions Only Work When Clad in Iron
At first glance, seems like a pretty standard Iron Man 2 poster: Iron Man suit, Tony Stark, that blue nebula Iron Man always seems to exist in. But what if we take Robert Downey Jr.'s intense glare and remove the powerful uniform we're all so familiar with. Could this image still work as a poster?
As it turns out, yes, but as an entirely different movie's poster:
I think it freaks me out most because his lips are parted just enough to quietly whisper, "Shhhhhhhhhhhhh..."
Incidentally, that is how Tony Stark's body look under the suit. He really hasn't been taking care of himself lately.

So the creepy expression is allowed when he's got the suit on, because you imagine it as some kind of elaborate chastity device?

Exactly. Also, heroes get some leering leniency. That's why we allowed Sully Sullenberger to ogle so many innocents after his daring landing on the Hudson.

Robert Downey Jr. is almost a more terrifying Nick Cave than an actual Nick Cave.
