Ed Joins the Misery That Will Be 'Yogi Bear'

Costing me thousands on all the bets I had that Steve Carell would obviously end up playing Ranger Smith in Warner Bros' live-action/CGI shit stew adaptation of Yogi Bear, Tom Cavanagh, best known to fans of the NBC sitcom Ed as Ed, has been cast as the lead in the project. So claims Variety:

Tom Cavanagh has signed on to play Ranger Smith in "Yogi Bear," Warner Bros.' live- action/CG animated pic that has begun shooting in New Zealand.

Cavanagh joins Anna Faris, Dan Aykroyd and Justin Timberlake.

Cavanagh is the male lead and romantic interest of a documentary filmmaker (Faris) who comes to Jellystone Park to shoot a film. Aykroyd's voicing the title character and Timberlake his sidekick Boo-Boo in the feature version based on the Hanna-Barbera cartoon series.

I've always liked Cavanagh, so I'm glad that, if nothing else, this could get him enough exposure to do other big films. Like maybe Yogi Bear 2. Or Yogi Bear 3. Or Alvin and the Chipmunks 4.
