Dec 3 2009Comcast Buying That National Broadcasting Company
Hooray for conglomerates! The New York Times is reporting that, after a human fetus's gestation period of negotiations, General Electric has finally agreed to sell a controlling share of NBC--the network where you watch Friends!--to cable giant Comcast:
The deal valued NBC Universal at about $30 billion. The agreement will create a joint venture, with Comcast owning 51 percent and G.E. owning 49 percent. Comcast will contribute to the joint venture its stable of cable channels, which includes Versus, the Golf Channel and E Entertainment, worth about $7.25 billion, and will pay G.E. about $6.5 billion in cash, for a total of $13.75 billion. For now, the network will remain NBC Universal, but ultimately Comcast could decide to change the name.
The Times also notes, "G.E.’s decision to sell reflects the deteriorating state of the broadcast television industry," but Comcast was quick to respond, saying, "Sure, broadcast television is deteriorating now, but wait until you see this hilarious new true-to-life sitcom we've cooked up for next fall! Think The Office with cable installers. You wouldn't believe the stories we have!"

Well let's hope they move from the extreme left in all things and move back to the center. Once they figure out that the rest of America isn't interested in going the direction of Obama's change. That the scientists and Al "chicken little" Gore lie about global warming/climate change, so we don't need all the "green" shows on this lame stream media channel. Then maybe Comcast will be able to pull NBC out of the crapper.

Comcast now completely owns Joel Mchales ass.
And Christ, back when Bush was president I hated all the whiny liberals flooding the internet, and now Obama is president it's the whiny conservatives. Can't we just set up some kind of national deathmatch between the two? I guess liberals would have the numbers, but conservatives would have the firepower.

#2 (fitting) Got news for you numbnuts, if you think NBC is "Liberal," you are a right wing retard. Just because Rupert Murdoch moved the barometer of normal conservative to batshit crazy reactionary, doesn't mean anyone who calls bullshit on George Bush or Fox News is a "Liberal." If you want to see liberal, get your head out of your ass, step outside the trailer park and take a plane (one of the metal birds you see whizzing over your double-wide) to Europe, where real liberals laugh at our slightly left of center "Liberals" and backwoods, bible beating troglodytes like you.
Now that that's out of the way, it sucks to know that now we'll have an even BIGGER media conglomerate controlling what we read, see and hear. Just what we need: more uninformed dipshits like #2.

As someone who has Comcast for TV and internet service because its THE ONLY SERVICE OFFERED in my part of the city, I first thought "Oh, crap, now Comcast will suck even bigger (as if that's possible)".
But now I've decided that since there's nothing I can do about the ass-sucking sub-inadequate douchebaggery that is Comcast, the rest of the world may as well have to deal with it, too.
Welcome to Shitland, everyone!

PS. @2 & 3 - way to instantly make the post about the media-fabricated liberal/conservative factions. Clearly neither of you has Comcast where you live or you'd realize that your petty little complaints are nothing compared to the sheer homocide-inducing frustration of slogging through the putrid ass sewage of smug ineptitude they call "service".

Oh, did we wake up cranky, what's the matter did you lose your favorite blanky. Jeez, what a crybaby. Guess angry liberals can't really complain that their messiah just doesn't cut the mustard, and the one network that gets a thrill up their leg when listening to B.O. just lost their direction given by G.E. Maybe now NBC will not suck and say stupid things like when B.O. gave his address about troops increase in the "enemies camp". Never really considered that cadets at West Point are our enemy. Whiny, sniveling, crybaby liberals yes, our armed forces no. Let me guess, whatapieceofshitt, you are from San Francisco.

I have to go with #5/6, liberal or conservative we should all unit against the dread beast Comcast.
Their monopoly of crap was bad enough, now they have controlling ownership in a major broadcast network. Really? And that doesn't reek of conflict of interest to anyone else? I'm just waiting for the mysterious outage of CBS nationwide during an episode of CSI.
(Though for the record, NBC actually is ranked the most "liberal" network in the same way Fox is the most "conservative. You can't call foul on labeling NBC then bitch about Fox basically. :D That's not me taking sides, just a statement of an imperical fact of existance. Both are equal in other words.)

#8. Interesting you should say that because for the last two weeks I haven't been able to get CW, Fox, or SyFy in HD...
I smell conspiracy.

@6, havent had comcast, but I did have Time Warner for awhile, which is also infamous for being horrible. Comcast must be pretty poorly managed wanting to buy a broadcast television network. Bunch of slowly dying dinosaurs.
and @8, totally agree. I'm a CNN guy myself.
