Dec 7 2009Chart Exactly Where Your Ian Malcolm Impression Takes Place

jurassic-park-map.jpg

Time to get frustrated by how incredibly close Nedry got to escaping from the island with this amazing, obviously-useful Jurassic Park map made by Terry "Tyrannosaurus" Davis (with assistance from Bernard "BrachioInGen" Kyer, Jeff "T-Rex_Master" Venancio, et al)! Reliving all the memorable scenes from the most quotable, always-watchable film ever made has never been more cartographic. I only wish there were an inset map showing me exactly where Nedry decides Dodgson is getting cheap on him.

The lowest pink dot should serve as a lesson to all future mapmakers: there should always be a point labeled "There it is!" on every future map ever made.

(Thanks, fellow JP nerd Matt)

Any true Jurassic Park fan would just use the maps that are in the "The Making of Jurassic Park" book that was sold after the movie came out.

I believe Dodgson is urged not to get cheap on Nedry in Costa Rica. At any rate Nedry does not implore Dodgson to resist his urge to penny-pinch on the island.

That was Hammond's mistake.

That still doesn't solve the most pedantic problem I had with the official published maps... In order to go through the Dilophosaurus and the T-rex to the sick Triceratops and then back to the T-rex, they not only had to turn around, but it would have been faster if they just kept going ahead anyways!!

Help... me...

If I was going to put this much work into something, I wouldn't have used MS paint. That said, pretty cool graphic.

It honestly never occurred to me there would be JP fan boys let alone anyone who could think this is the MOST quotable movie ever. I think I may need to watch it again soon. I've probably been put off by that mess of sequels. That said, Tombstone, gentlemen, is the MOST quotable movie ever.

Okay, I went to the original site and I still can't see this thing big enough to make out the details. Do I really care? Who does stuff like this sixteen years later?

I certainly hope "the most quotable, always-watchable film ever made" is sarcastic. In this context I can't really tell.

This actually was done and on the internet around the time the movie came out, not "sixteen years later". I actually have this map (and a bunch of decals/signage from the movie) on a 3.5" floppy somewhere..

excellent.
