Nov 18 2009This Is the Droid You Were Looking For
As noted by one of my girlfriend sites, a search for R2-D2 in the new Star Trek has ended. (Also of note: there was a search to find R2-D2 in the new Star Trek?) The above shot has been confirmed to be the fabled cross-franchise, fan-fiction-like appearance by the droid in J.J. Abrams' reboot.
Fans of both series should enjoy the subtle nod from one fictional universe to another, whereas superfans of either series should be vexed for years trying to figure out how to justify a being from a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away showing up in the 23rd century, and determining what disastrous consequences this anomaly may hold for both universes.

Confirmed on Blu-ray version... cool. Hope J.J. got permission, lest Emperor George come after him for infringement.

I'm not a super-fan of either franchise, but this seems a bit retarded. :|

R2 was one of the only redeeming qualities in Episode 2-Clones. Probably true of the new Star Trek as well.

For anybody that's curious, it's at 47:39 in the movie (Blue-ray version - probably around there for other versions, as well).

I just watched this last night and went frame by frame and I can confirm that this is 100% bullshit. R2D2 is NOT in this movie, not even for a single frame. There is a BLUR that some people could interpret as possibly being something in a shape like this, but it is NOT. This is was watched on a 46" 1080p Sony Bravia....blu-ray so suck it!
WTF is with Star Trek anyways? They have green chicks, lizard people, space ships that can go 'warp' speed and yet they don't have any actual ROBOTS in the series. Way to go JayJae Abrahams! Maybe he should direct the Hungry Hungry Hippo movie - might be a bit more authentic.

@ 10: I hate myself for being the one to defend Star Trek, but what about Data? He's a robot. And the Borg are cyborgs.

And what about will wheaton? He's a robot.

Hey, #11, you are a douche bag.
I hate you for defending star trek too. Seems like your defence of star trek is about as strong as wet toilet paper. Good job stink-finger! You are a hero to 'tards everywhere.

Are some of you guys trolls? Seriously...you guys are fucking MORONS! R2D2 IS in the movie....there was even a contest put on by Paramont to find him. I believe its cause Lucas's special effects company did the CG for the film...ILM.
I have officially come to the conclusion that 99% of people that comment on this site of fucktards of the lowest order. You are SOOOO quick to bash something as bullshit when in reality you stupid fucks have NO IDEA what you are talking about. I'am specifically really aiming towards 10 and 13....I hope you're a troll....yes there are robots in Star Trek you twat. If you knew anything about anything you would know this! But, as I said before, you dont know your dick from your tongue so you are quick to bash.
Anyways peace out dork.
