Nov 6 2009New 'Despicable Me' Trailer: Supervillains Wear Scarves
How long have we waited for a film villain to combine equal parts Tiny Tim and Nosferatu?
TOO LONG. Don't wait any longer. He is risen:
Ugh. Of course he has to rub the keyboard on his butt.

Who the fuck cares about all these retarded cartoons that are being made?
They are always the most mediocre, predictable and boring stories, designed for morons, appreciated by the kids of morons.
My kids appreciate real movies, not this safe crap.
'Toy Story' was the worst thing to happen to animation... and now we suffer the wretched birth of eight of these things a year.

well, at least the trailer is special, it's different to most trailers.
and yeah, the cast is good.

Blurg,
As an animation student and a person who plans to work on animated films for a living, I find your blunt and unfortunate analysis of animated movies childish and appalling. Many animated movies have a greater message and far more thought put in to them than other forms of entertainment. Animation is a beautiful medium because it allows you to create worlds, characters, stories and performances which would be impossible in live action. I am not sure if your 'beef' is strictly with CG Movies or with animation in general, as Disney and Bluth animated theatrical features were always very safe and they were around for many years before 'Toy Story'.
That being said, I have little interest in this movie. I am personally getting sick of the need to put well-known 'voice' talents in animated features, CG or otherwise. Voice acting to achieve a great animated performance takes a lot of work and many of the actors contributing voices for many CG movies do not give the accentuated punches in the voice which is needed for a great animated performance.
I really hope Blue Sky pulls off a great movie here and I will probably see it since it is animated. I am actually pleased to see them stepping away from their Ice Age characters as they were getting a little old. Horton was one of the best things that studio achieved.

@3 While Toy Story is certainly lacking a depth of many later Pixar movies, it is shear ignorance to say it is responsible for the slew of crappy CG kids movies. That'd be like blaming Seven Samurai for a random bad action "epic"(ie: post Robin Hood Costner movies). The reason these movies are made is because the technology is cheap now - something that could not be said when Toy Story came around and it was actually a novel undertaking. They'd be pumping them out regardless of the success of Pixar(though it'd be fair to say they are the standard followed, though rarely lived up to).
Not that I am defending Despicable Me(though it looks better than most).

Animation student here too. Looks great. there are soooo many aspects to each 3d film... Cartoons were around long before 3d animation obviously and its the same thing basically. just a different medium so its blatantly ignorant to say 3d animation is ruining film being that its done on computers. pretty much all cartoons are done on computer now too. even south park is done on a program called maya . If its true that 3d animation is ruining film then traditional animation is just as guilty. As far as voiceovers go theyre getting better. just give em some time to get the genre rolling.

i wasnt impressed by the still and the character design and the first half of the trailer, but when he gets squashed at that house the animation is pretty impressive and the cast list seems interesting...will give this a shot!

Looks like they're trying out the silent character type of animation too, everything after the first part was dissapointing.
22. deet - November 11, 2009 7:25 PM
They ruined it with that rapper saying "despicable me" then rapping ridiculous rhymes, to something that doesn't remotely match.
