Nov 24 2009Iron Man's New (I'm Told) Iron Suit

iron-man-2-empire-cover.jpg

From the new Empire Magazine cover: it's Iron Man's new suit! I guess it's a new suit? I can't say I really notice a difference. Though, I often don't notice when my own clothing is partially unbuttoned; horribly stained; missing sleeves; actually a wet sack I've punched armholes through; made of the stained, matted human hair I had been using as bedding but slowly evolved to wearing, first as a sort of shawl, later as a full suit; etc. So I'm probably not the best guy to be determining if an outfit has been altered. And it's not even my duty. It's each man's own individual responsibility to determine if there are enough changes in a superhero's sequel costume to warrant buying a new set of action figures.

PS: I'm posting from a plane (hello, future) and my computer battery is rapidly dying. So if you don't hear from me again today, now you know why. Terrorists.

PPS: In the comments, Zach made a good point that maybe the War Machine suit is the new suit. I'll stick with my theory that this suit is the new one, but only in that it's nude from the waist down.

I haven't seen the new Empire Magazine but could the new suit refer to War Machine and not Iron Mans?

it's War Machine.

Christ, they alluded to it greatly in the first movie...

Terrance Howard = War Machine.

Or, I guess it's Don Cheadle now. :/

The suit on the cover is different (albeit slightly) than the one from the 1st film.

See here: http://www.jatsmedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/01/newimjan23.jpg

if you look at other pics out there, its a new suit iron man wears in IM2. so its that it refers to. but yes war machine is in it (obviously)

I loved this write up! Well done making me laugh!

Disappointed that everything has improved except his attitude. Major letdown.

RDJ doesn't fuck around.

I guess they changed it slightly just to fuck with replica prop makers..or to give them something new to do for the next two years.
I don't want to exagerate, but the Iron Man comic had like a billion different suits, so it's good to seem them making a new one for this installment.

The suit is actually more streamlined than it was in #1. The shoulder armor has been reduced, and the chest is more compact/sleeker. The paint job has changed (becoming a lighter/shinier shade of red). The most drastic change is with the leg paint, because the gold goes down to the kneecap, and it looks like the area of red around the upper thigh has been reduced. All in all this suit isn't going to be as bulky as the other one.

Now describe what a human female's breast feels like. What's that? You can't? Figures.

Where's the source link, webmaster? I Googled "Iron Man 2, Empire magazine", and the search result I read didn't mention any "new suit".

YES, MY GOD, how can you not see its a new suit?! They obviously changed the color from hotrod red with an orange tint to hotrod slightly orange but still red.

Thats the most obvious change in a sequal since Batman 2 where theres no joker. CHANGE! Get with the program.

@ 11- Well "Falgore" it just sounds like he didn't want to upset you or your mom by telling us all about the saggy, disappointing details that is your mom, or of you masterbating in the corner of the room sobbing watching the old girl getting milked. Seriously if you're going to knock someone for not being a hit with the ladies DON'T go by the handle "Falgore" & don't post on a blog that's practically dedicated to fanboys & geek-centric movies.

I thought Falgore made a pretty good point, actually.

I, dunno

@ 14

Falgore still managed to sound less like he was hyperventilating than you do...

None of you get any so shut already and go back to your comic book circle jerk!
