Nov 13 2009I Think This Is a Newish 'Avatar' Trailer
If you still can't get enough of seeing Sam Worthington's wheelchairing and blue cat people with glowing freckles, here's a relatively new trailer for Avatar. I guess it was run during Fox's last airing of Glee, so it's as old as whenever it is Glee is on. I'll have to check which day on my calendar is marked with a hand doing an "L" thing.

Hm yeah, a few new shots here and there and it's edited a bit differently near the end.

..and they speak perfect English without a trace of indigenous accent! Amazing!!
Looks like Dances With Wolves meets Halo.

@2....actually you are WRONG. Cameron worked with a language professor for a long time to come up with a language that the Na'vi speak. Its in English because Jake is in his avatar...hence he can understand their language. To the humans the na'vi speak in their own dialect. You will see this in the movie. Dont be so quick to judge...your remind me of Christians.

Hey, everybody, see if you can tell who is the true fanboy here. Come on, guess!
8. Matt - November 15, 2009 4:07 PM
@7....No fanboy here...just mearly speaking facts....
"Cameron's aliens naturally have their own alien language. Cameron worked with Paul Froemer head of the linguistics department at USC who he was lucky enough to encounter a year earlier. Cameron's goal was to beat Klingon with a more detailed and well thought out language. The Navi language started by riffing off things in the treatment, but from there, it went to constructing sentences and a sound system that was pronounceable by the actors but sounded exotic and not specific to human languages. It was accomplished by mixing fragments of Polynesian and some African languages."

i was looking forward to james camerons next film, but this looks terrible. it looks like something disney would make, with blue CGI creatures and all that crap. it looks utterly rubbish.

It's basically Pocahontos with Smurfs, right? Right? Oh yeah, and in 3D. But still native chick, soldier from civilised nation. He sides with her, fighting happens . . . Pocahontos with blue people, ie Smurfs.
James Cameron, fool me once, shame on you fool me twice - you can't fool me again!!!

People that are quick to drop hastily thrown together criticisms and insults are usually the ones that have the least to bring to the table. Hence the need for them to focus attention on the real or percieved faults of others and their work.
That aside, I think you would be hard pressed to not feel like this movie deserves a chance, Lord knows they put enough work into it. Sure, the plot might appear to be a tad on the familiar side, but lets be fair, there is only so many archetypes we can work with. Besides, just because its a story we might have heard before, doesn't mean its not good and it certainly doesn't mean it's not going to have a uniqueness that is all its own.

Oh yeah, I'll go see it, some of the effects look awesome. If it's crap, meh. If you want I could give you a comment that isn't "hastily thrown together", full of esoteric language examining how the film seems to be built on aspects of revisionist post-colonial theory, that ultimately seek to codify, absolve and justify the centrality of the white male through his adherence to a so-called “universal morality” I’m sure plenty of us could. But all that means is the film is Pocahontas with Smurfs. Even if it really is the film that revolutionises the industry and changes our lives forever . . . it will still be Pocahontas with Smurfs.

This movie looks embarrassing, but I'm considering a 200 mile drive to the better IMAX to check it out. Maybe I'll preview it at the discount theater, then decide if it's worth the bother.
Generally Cameron won't make an absolute stinkbomb. Should be better than Fantastic Four.

1 min 40 sec: Whooooo!
Those flying machines look like "Terminator" flying Hunter Killers with a few Huey parts stuck on.
Flying Hunter Killers were also used by the landing team in "Aliens", and in "Titanic", Jack used one to rescue Rose from Godzilla.
I guess they're "Cameron" Hunter Killers. He'll probably use them to take over the world.

simply put, people like #13 have not imagination. thats why all they have are criticisms whenever anything creative arises.

Are you really cool

@ 4 Stfu 2 has a good point if a human can't understand an alien language than how can a human mind controlling an avatar understand the alien language .
goddammit you guys are way to freaking rtarded .Gosh!!!
yes I am fat and sleep in my moms basement strolling for pron .
23. bladedemon04 - November 20, 2009 6:19 AM
@ 22 Yeah, plus you can't spell porn, which is sad and must make trawling for it hard.
Look, I think the film looks crazy and silly, but also stands a chance of being decent - after all I like Smurfs and I like Pocahontas. But attacking it on the grounds the whole thing isn't in a made up language is just stupid and pointless. I gaurantee if the whole thing was Passion Of The Christ style subtitled, you'd be way more pissed off at how pointless that is. It's a sci-fi film, not a bloody documentary!
Also, @4 is probably still right.
