Oct 19 2009Behind the Scenes on 'King of Fighters' -- See the Terrible Magic Happen!
Watch out Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, and both Street Figher movies: there's a new contender looking to become king of dismal fighting game adaptations. And how does King of Fighters plan to steal the oft-contested crown? By taking this fight to Tournament World! (Which is the fighting dimension, obviously):
Yeah, Maggie Q, it's like Fight Club. With a hockey player guy. And a tournament dimension. That's what it's like.
Sorry, King of Fighters fans. Maybe King of Fighters '11 will fix some of the deep flaws in this film.

I'm afraid. I'm very afraid...
Really, I can't conceivably imagine any way this movie could possibly turn out even the slightest bit marginally so-so.

Down the toilet goes my childhood at the arcades....
How many quarters were in the budget for this film? not enough to get a wonderbra for Mai? or an extension for Terry's ponytail? or a Japanese school boy uniform and bandana for Kyo?.... I bet the studio producers had their asses handed at the arcades and this is the way they get back at us.

Why, oh why can't a video game movie just be a movie of said game? Every time a new one comes out I think "Hey, that game had an interesting plot and likable characters so they can't possibly mess this up." and I'm proven wrong over and over again. Really hollywood? Really? It would be so easy.

These movies never come close to what people remember about the games. Silent Hill came really, really close. Resident Evil was a decent flick but didn't mirror the games very well.
Streetfighter: The Legend Of Chun Li, for example, was so bad it actually made the original Van-Damme SF, by comparison, a much better film. Do we really need this garbage polluting screens?
There is hope though, I think Fox wised up and axed "The Sims" feature film. :D

one more thing, what is it with these pseudo quasi asian girls starring in these movies...ohp! heard a gunshot. one lonely gun shot. guess thats all you need if you get them just right...anyways. first that kirsten kruek girl and now that maggie whatever. just get some japanese sex model thing and put them in there. its gonna suck no matter who is in it.

Why the fuck couldn't they have just left Kyo as asian. Shit I am not even asking for him to be Japanese but why the fuck would you keep his japanese name yet make him WHITE. Where is this even acceptable? I thought we've gone beyond the whole "asians are too asian to play actual asians on tv" thing. If they didn't want to have an asian male lead (obviously) then why not center the story around terry who is already white...opps sorry, they can't do that because they fucked him up as well. How is this movie even legal? If I knew the director I would punch him in the fucking face.

i guess video game companies dont care about their material enough to find a decent script, actors and director for their movie adaptations. i mean movie studios just keep churning out film after film of horrible viedo game adaptations. at least the comic book publishers attempt to make their films interesting and somewhat reflect the actual material. here is my message to hollywood: unless you are actually going to make an effort on a video game movie, PLEASE just stop making them.
mai has no boobs! blasphemy!

I've been a 'King of Fighters' fan since i forked over hundereds of dollars for my NEOGEO AES system and King of Fighters 94' cartridge back in late 93'.....This just plain sucks. Pure and simple. No care or respect for the genre. replacing Kyo with some white dude?...Yori is some skinny weak looking guy? Mai..well i don't even need to mention it!!! Bad idea from the start!!

Makes me wanna puke when they are showing how awesome the game is then putting it up against this crappy ass movie.

You forgot about Dead or Alive in the list of crappy fighting game remakes.

Is Iori really that small of a character? And where is Andy Bogard? He's Terry's brother AND Mai's husband or boyfriend or something.
One upside on the film is that Darth Maul is playing Rugal Bernstein. Downside is, Darth Maul is playing Rugal Bernstein. This movie looks cheesy as hell, but we won't really know until it's released. Maybe the storyline is its saving grace. I'll just wait patiently for this movie.
Since I'm a very big fan of the franchise, I'm just gonna watch it anyway.

The first Mortal Kombat movie was amazing.
Annihilation, on the other hand, well... yeah, you guys have a point with that one...
18. Dating for Geeks - October 25, 2009 7:49 PM
The series pretty much revolved around Mai Shiranui's breasts. Without "me bouncy!", this movie will fail.

Wow, another White guy playing a Japanese (Asian) character. Of course, you can't cast a Asian person to start in an Asian lead role, it won't sell. :-\ This sucks... It's Dragon Ball, all over again.
I've asked people, "Would you watch a movie that starred an Asian person in an Asian lead role, be it a game or anime made to movie?" Everyone has said "Yes." As long as the movie is good.
Great White Hope, once more. The worse part is the Asian director.
This will inevitably go down in flames. Good job on disgracing your people and fans "Gordan" Chan.
I can't believe he actually thought this was a great idea... most dishonorable...

I like Maggie Q. She's decent. This will destroy her budding career.
and yes, Dragon Ball all over again. ok, so goku was an alien. i get it. but so was superman and they don't cast wesley snipes as clark kent! WTF!? and what white parents name there kid japanese names? how did they expect to pass a white guy off as Kyo? I got 15 seconds into the "behind the scenes" and I had to stop and read what everyone was saying because I couldn't watch any more. it is a sad, sad day. boycott that ish
