Sep 10 2009That Guy From 'District 9'? He Might Be "Howling Mad" Murdock
Time to learn the name Sharito Copley. BlackFilm is reporting the actor--the main guy from District 9--has been offered the role of "Howling Mad" Murdock in Joe Carnahan's A-Team adaptation. If he takes the part, he'll be joining a cast that includes Liam Neeson as "Hannibal", Bradley Cooper as "Faceman", and Rampage Jackson as "Mr. T". His taking the part would also mean another movie I spend whispering to the person next to me, "Is that Spike Jonze doing a South African accent? Never mind, that's not Spike Jonze doing a South African accent. No, wait... no, it's not."

Nice to know Sharito is getting some recognition for his work in District 9.
He'll be great as a mysterious, mentally unstable screaming man.
OH WAIT THATS WHAT HE PLAYED IN DISTRICT 9.

It's Sharlto Copley. Not Sharito.

No, it's not. And if that's all you took from his performance, I'm sorry for your loss.

It's a bit condescending to refer to him as "the main guy from District 9," no? I'm sure you refer to "that chick from There's Something About Mary" or "Dude who sings SexyBack" by their names all the time... and Sharlto Copley is a much better actor than either of them.
So yeah... you know... Wikipedia and whatnot.

They're going to totally overdue it with the black van, aren't they. They're going to F&%K up the whole movie by "updating" the van. Damn it!!

The guy was pretty much under everyone in the worlds radar until District 9. I loved the movie and thought he was great, but I still had no idea what his name was. I, like pretty much everyone I know, would refer to him as "the guy from District 9" or at most, Wicus (however you spell that).
In reference to Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake, when they first hit the scene I did refer to them as "the hot chick from The Mask" and "The curly haired homo from N'Sync", because they were relatively unknown and had yet to become a recurring part on the public stage. Once I started seeing their faces again and again, I learned their names and referred to them as such. This is the joke/social insight the IWS writer is making. I hope this has been helpful.

@bribios
It has been helpful indeed. :) I'm just saying... it wouldn't have hurt to do a quick online search to find out the guy's name. You know... respekt and whatnot. The author knew it too, hence the correction on the first line.
It's all good, yo. It's aaaaall good.

Is Rampage Jackson still up for B.A. Baracus? According to his wiki site he's facing a felony count for evading the police in a kick-ass flaming SUV with his picture painted on the side. Unless that was the actual audition for the role, I'm not sure he's gonna be a free man when they start filming.
