Sep 9 2009One More Logo To Look At Before Batman Movies: Warner Forms DC Entertainment

jla-faq.jpg

In an desperate effort to compete with the recent Marvel/Disney merger, DC Comics parent company Warner Bros. has decided to overhaul the company into "DC Entertainment," a single unit that will control DC's properties and give them more synergies and vertical integrationings (business terms).

Here are some hollow, meaningless words from the official statement:

DC Comics and its super hero characters are truly touchstones of popular culture, and the formation of DC Entertainment is a major step in our company's efforts to realize the full potential of this incredible wellspring of creative properties

I hope the broad term "entertainment" includes elements of breakfast. It's about time someone makes a Batman waffle maker, which would make waffles shaped like Batman.

here's hoping it works out... fingers crossed!!

*This* is that crap people were afraid Disney would do to Marvel. WB has gone and put someone with no apparent comics experience (since the article doesn't mention any) in charge of the whole damn company and "sequed" the president down to a writer and "contributing editor".

Thankfully I don't read DC.
Sadly I do read Wildstorm and it'll probably be dismantled completely now.

This is wild because just a week ago Marvel Ent. became Disney..lol

They'll make every comic book character into a movie and run out of ideas.. then it will be endless sequels, prequels, and remakes.

@ James- I am ecstatic that someone reads WildStorm. I'm fairly sure they'll keep it around, if only to handle all the licensed properties they'll probably be getting now (if this "integration" thing flows both ways).

Hear that sound...

That is the sound of DC realizing that only they have going for them is Chris Nolan's Batman, and not much else.

Stick with the direct to video animation, and bring back Justice League.

Disney won't do a thing to Marvel, they just want mo money. They didn't edit movies like Reservoir Dogs when it was released under companies they owned.

This press release is ironic because "incredible wellspring" is what DC Entertainment's mom calls me.

I bought a batman waffle maker from a street vendor in NY, but it only makes Gotham City manhole covers :(

Fuck DC.
Thats right Dano, you heard me.
Fuck DC and Green Lantern and Brainiac and Solomon Grundy.
I'd rather read a Dark Horse book than a DC book.
I'd rather watch Galactus take a shit after devouring a world.
Somebody tell the artists there its not the Golden Age anymore.

Oh yea! Creating synergies!!! I wonder if they are going to reach for the low hanging fruit, and make sure all of their ducks are in a row too.

/Like a boss.

I think that this is good news.

Diane Nelson has been running Warner Premiere, which released the generally excellent direct-to-video animated features using various DC characters. Those videos have been much better than just about all the output of DC Comics this decade other than ALL-STAR SUPERMAN and NEW FRONTIER.

Is it just me or is batman coping a feel on wonder woman's ass
