Aug 26 2009New 'Avatar' Avatar: The Sigourney Weavatar
MarketSaw has put up some scans from the new issue of Empire Magazine, giving a first look at Sigourney Weaver in her blue alien form. I have to say, they really nailed Weaver's pointed features and prominent lower teeth, though I'm a bit disappointed to see the avatars apparently take on the features of their human consciousnesses. If becoming a Na'vi is just going to make me look like a blue version of myself, I'll stick with auto-erotic asphyxiation, thank you.

i swear, this movie looks whatever. James should've came back to direct Terminator Salvation instead of this Avarcrap

Na'vi is the new alternative to plastic surgery.

overhyped

I love how people scream overhyped. When at best they have seen 15 minutes of various footage on a 3 hour film. Its as if whenever someone makes a prediction no matter if its about Sony's next game system, Obama, Ford's next car, or a movie....there has to be a throng of retards that come out of nowhere and screech like a baboon that HECK NO! It is going to suck.
Do everyone a favor and STFU and wait for Dec 18th. See the movie. Then scream a review out at the top of your lungs. Until then....It looks interesting.

This movie looks like a Furry's wet dream.

I have NO idea why idiots like "the pope" say this is for "furries", etc. Furries are ANIMALS...these look very HUMAN to me. I would consider Bambi and The Lion King more of a "furries" wet dream than Avatar. And to the guy that said overhyped....dude...say what you want but you know you will be in line come December. I remember everyone said the same bullshit about Titanic...."most expensive movie ever! Its gonna flop so bad! Stupid story!, etc. etc." And we all know what happend with it.....the rest is history. If you clicked the link and screenshots of the Navi look so FUCKING REAL! I cant tell if Im looking at a person with prosthetics or cgi....good job Jim!
Movie will own and own HARD! Haters will hate all they want until December but I know they will be jumping ship.

@ Sithlord.....James has already said he will NEVER go back to the Terminator franchise. He's been quoted several times saying the story is finished at the end of the 2nd film.

This is going to be the dumbest fucking movie ever.
9. Hey Hey - August 26, 2009 5:48 PM
I wonder if- like with Star Trek- they're going to make some online program that turns a picture of you into an 'Na'vi' thing?
Hey GW- if they do have something like that, I demand a bluified version of you! Or Shaq..

That would be a young Sigorney Weaver. She was a handsome young woman.

how is it that i didn't hear anything about this movie until people started screaming "OVERHYPED!!!!"? perhaps because i dismiss anything with the word "avatar" in it assuming it ends in "the last air bender"? probably.

@Rob
Lol, that's what I thought too. Then I saw some posters at comic con and was like.. wahhhht? Plus the avatar movie that you're thinking of is actually called "the last air bender" :o

It's just gonna be a movie about a man who comes to understand a different perspective and then fights to save it . . . Disney's Pocahontas retold with aliens and explody things.
It'll be a grand aul yarn and we'll all go see it and say, yeah, that was grand and the world will be exactly the same as the day before, except that I'll be sick from eating the entire bucket of popcorn and not sharing it with the pretty (or otherwise) young lady stupid enough let me trick her into going to see it.

A woman that puts her hand in my popcorn bucket is a soon to be bruised woman.

@Matt: Furries are actually anthropomorphic animals, not regular ones. Lion King and Bambi count, yeah, but they're only one end of the Furry spectrum (talking animals).
Anthropomorphic literally means "human-shaped"... thus anthropomorphic animals are "human-shaped" animals like the ones depicted in Avatar. So yeah, this is totally a movie for Furries.
16. Kasey - December 18, 2009 10:33 PM
Sorry, no.
Furries have "human-shaped" bodies and animal heads. Avatar is more along the lines of anime style cat-girls/guys, which is fairly generic.
Haters are simply screaming "furry!" to try and put people off what is shaping up to be a hugely successful franchise.
17. Xydexx - December 31, 2009 6:06 PM
Same difference. The bottom line is that Avatar is chock full of furries, and that makes it cool by default.

the writer of the blog nailed it--not just SW's teeth, but also her eyes--the way they kid of have that kindly look to them with the outside top edge slanting DOWN--all the na'vi are cat like people with exotic eyes that are big and round but go up to kind of upward points on the outside corners like cats--weaver looks entirely out of place.
