Aug 19 2009'Dirty Dancing' Remake Time

In these modern times, is Baby still safeguarded from corner placement? Time to find out! Production Weekly has revealed that Lionsgate is developing a remake of the 1987 Patrick Swayze/Jennifer Grey/Laws & Order's Jerry Orbach film about dirty dancing, Dirty Dancing. Meaning all those other movies where a guy and girl fall in love while scandalously dancing haven't been remakes of Dirty Dancing? I just assumed at least a few were.

With a remake of Footloose also in development, people who like to for some reason pretend that dancing is still considered lewd or taboo in any way have a lot to look forward to! Let's hurry up and get this in theaters so that Conan O'Brien can ironically demand its re-release in ten years.

Are they waiting for two out of the three nameable stars from that film to die before it hits theaters? I guess arguably Jennifer Gray's nose is dead too so make that 3 out of 3.

What about Dirty Dancing Havanna Nights? Swayze even had a cameo.

Dirty Dancing and Red Dawn remakes on the horizon. If they even think about fucking with Point Break I will start the meanest petition in cinematic history. You can bet the farm on that one.

Let's also not forget the just-greenlit Zemeckis Yellow Submarine remake. Because what that movie needed was creepily-animated human beings.

i wonder if they will pick a big nose actress who will later get a nose job, then you cannot recognize her anymore thus ending her career, hmmm

Are you serious? Can't they leave a fucking movie alone. I swear on the heads of stupid idiotic writers and producers in Hollyfuckingwierd, I had better not see a Yellow Submarine remake. I will hide in my house and order my favorite old movies from ebay, and never venture into a movie theater again!!!!!!!!

Dear Hollywood:

Stop screwing with good movies. Seriously, this is your final warning.

Sincerely, The Fans

They aren't screwing with good movies. By making this are they confiscating every shred of evidence of the old movie and erasing its existence? More movies for everyone is a good thing. You can still watch your dumb 1980's Dirty Dancing while this new is released and loved or hated by a new generation. Get over yourselves.

First, dirty dancing was never a good movie. and for every 10 people that name drop yellow submarine, 1 has actually seen it.

B. Warn away with your empty threats. Transformers and GI Joe made 4 trillion dollars. Hollywood can and will do whatever they want, and you will bend over and take it.

Like you said. hasn't this been remade a hundred times already. who gives a shit.

Why... why... *cry... I f*cking hate you Hollywood I f*cking hate you!
don't rape my childhood I can't take it anymore! *cry

Would like to think a remake is a compliment to any past creation, but either way ... wait till it comes out and take it or leave it. I doubt they could ever create something that captures the element of timing with any movie; saying it's good or bad is like saying the flavor vanillla or chocolate is good or bad. It's all relative to who you are & what you like. I had the pleasure (after seeing Dirty Dancing a 100 times) of staying at the resort where most of the movie was made (Mountain Lake Hotel Virginia) and if you love nature you would love this place! Couldn't believe the staff and accommodations way on top of a mountain with a lake! ***BTW*** the natural wonder of a lake on top of a mountain has disappeared (dried up spring fed lake bed) and not likely to return in my lifetime. So glad I got to see the prestine resort when the water was fine; moonlight boatride & fireside sleep in BaBy's room.
