Aug 20 2009'Capitalism: A Love Story' Trailer: It Turns Out This Economic and Political System Has Some Issues

capitalism-a-love-story-trailer.jpg

Hey, it's the new trailer for Michael Moore's Capitalism: A Love Story. Hopefully this latest documentary will do as good a job opening eyes to the flaws of capitalism as Sicko did at making everyone realize how obvious it is that all citizens should be afforded health care. That's the national opinion now, right?

Trailer:

His next documentary should be about why the U.S. should switch to the metric system. That should make for similarly well-intentioned but ultimately futile entertainment.

looks interesting

Moore is a fat ignorant jackass

"The most feared filmaker"?

Who the hell is afraid of Micheal Moore?
Other then people who own All U can eat buffets.

If there is a problem in this country that you never want solved.
Have Micheal Moore make a film about it.

you should switch to the metric system!

When will the world learn that the only successful form of government is a military dictatorship. Enforced by laser wielding monkeys.

There is nothing more informative to watch than a Michael Moore movie. I just wish he'd tuck in that ubiquitous fat tire, a woman can only take so much sexiness.

Did anyone else get distracted as soon as the opening to 'paper planes' repeated itself? I was waiting for the kick in, and when it didnt happen, I realised I was no longer listening at all to what they were saying..

I also think Im missing the point of this trailer.

I'm with #8.

yes, he's fat. move on ppl!!!

Recipe for a Palme d'Or Michael Moore "documentary". Start with a shocking title, then over simplify and misrepresent an issue to death, two or three ridiculous stunts that appear to embarrass rich/powerful people with tricky editing, a few leading interviews cut and pasted together, a couple of ironic songs and movie clips, 15 minutes with the poor people of Flint Michigan, then just let it run for two and a half hours. I can't believe anyone is delusional enough to take that guy seriously anymore.

He has a few good documentaries, but he is seriously running out of things to make movies against; I wouldn't be surprised if he came out with a movie for why the Metric system is better...

There are laws making sure our cars are insured, because they are important.

People, though? Fuck people. People aren't as important as cars.

Wait a second... The government takes money from one group of people and gives it to another, and he calls it capitalism?

I don't think he knows what the word capitalism means.

#11 - You deconstruct this very nicely.

But "delusion" is the whole point of it. This is just political propaganda to be consumed by brainless leftists. No one is going to these things to be entertained, which is the fundamental nature of movies. It is just a political rally of brainless people stroking each other's smug sense of superiority.

@TetraShiva - If you do not understand a law, or the purpose of it, it would be recommended that you don't comment about it. Otherwise you reveal that you are an infantile idiot. Car Insurance laws require that each driver have Liability insurance to protect OTHER people's health and property from that driver’s potential negligence. The law does NOT require that an individual insure their own health or property, because each individual is a sovereign entity possessing the inherent right to choose their own level of risk. Government provided and mandated health insurance strips each individual of that inherent right. If you give another the responsibility of insuring your welfare, then you also give them the right to mandate your actions according to what they deem safe or potentially unsafe. That is the antithesis of freedom.

Why are Republicans always assholes?

"Why are Republicans always assholes?"
Because Liberals are cocksuckers Bobby dear!

He's already made this documentary like 5 times. It's time he starts branching out and actually make documentary films, not this one-sided, propaganda crap.

See! I'm not a cocksucker so you're just spewing bullshit. You however, are an asshole. So I ask the question again: why are Republicans always assholes?

i'm with ya Bobby. Republicans are assholes. I watch CNN all the time and you can always tell who's Republican right a way because of their constant bad attitude towards things and constant anger. Democrats are more passive

Bobby,

My guess is that, to be a Republican at all, you have to be pretty antipathic towards humanity. When your political stance is to be "hostis humani generis", its only a hop, skip and jump to acting like genuine bug-eyed, slobbering scum towards everybody. Joey calling you names is just a specific example of his geneal contempt for everybody.

RIGHT ON 16!!!!!!!!

What a waste. More shit spewed by a fatass that is the leading contributor to high health care cost for the the rest of us that keep ourselves healthy. Moore is an idiot.

You folks are fools if you think Micheal Moore's documentaries don't at the very least point out the obvious flaws in the States. Yes, he is a master of the editing room, and yes, he is quite one sided but neither of these things make him absolutely wrong. I can see why some don't like him or his movies, but if he were to make a true documentary, one that is more for the purpose of informing rather than entertaining, no one would see him.
And I cannot believe the health care debate is actually a debate at all. Access to the means to keep ones self well should be a right to all, not a privilege for those that can afford it, and in no way does granting someone a right infringe on freedom. That's the most ridiculous statement I've ever heard.

@16 You're assuming that true idealistic freedom is attainable. which it is not.

read Man Vs. State, then return for more conversation.

21. You are either so full of bullshit or have your head up your ass. I believe its both because you are a librul. And libruls have very selective memory when it comes to their own hypocrisy, especially that of the last 8 years when they were nothing but angry, hateful, loudmouth evil mongers!!! You're passive now because you think that everything Chairman Zero does is wicked awesome when in fact he has done nothing but fail. Stimulus - Fail, Cash for Clunkers - Fail, Foreign Policy - Fail, Cap and Tax - Fail, Close Gitmo - Fail, Heath Care Reform - EPIC FAIL!

Thank goodness that Balack Obummer is a one term president. Just like his model, Jimmuh Carter.

@ #17(boby) - if you were referring to me, I am not a republican, and I only spoke facts.
@ #24(james) Your logic is broken. If it is the State's responsibility to provide universal government provided healthcare, and ensure each individual's health, then it is a necessary right and obligation of the state to limit and regulate the actions of its members. Otherwise the state would be negligent by allowing its members to engage in any activity that it deems potentially risky using public funds. That is the very definition of loss of freedom.
@ 25#(fork-a-fork) - I am not assuming that true idealistic freedom is attainable- that does not mean that it is right or even practical to strip humanity of individual of freedom to provide comfort for everyone. Oh, and I have read Man vs. State

Oops, made a mistake. It isn't the definition, but it certainly perfectly fits it.

#26...."dude" lol. i'm assuming by your angry-like statements that you're a republican. Go try to wage wars w/ someone else, the Country's done w/ trying to wage wars w/ others, get use to it. ....asshole

....fucker's name is "dude"

I was going to say the same thing. True capitalism has nothing to do with giving money to people who don't deserve it. The majority of republicans in office today aren't capitalists at all. They are only socialists under the cover of capitalist. That's why the way half of them vote is contradictory to the other votes.

If you want to get information that is actually intellectual and not from a NETWORK television news show (which is purely about ratings not truth) or a documentary that contradicts itself in it's own trailer read a book called Atlas Shrugged. Then look at capitalism and see for yourself what the real cause of an economic recession is. Or maybe listen to some lectures from Ayn Rand herself.

i personally dont have healthcare. so now i must make sure i dont do anything risky because if i am hurt, then i am fucked. when i was in germany, i got sick and went to the doctor. i walked in and asked the receptionist if i could see a doctor and she immediately took me back to see one. he gave me a prescription for amoxicillin and i filled it across the street for 9 euros. no dealing with insurance, no death panel, no question of my nationality, just healthcare. i was actually stunned at how fast and easy it was to just go to the doctor. i wouldnt have been able to do that in my own country. they would have turned me away. and lemme tell ya, my german isnt very good...

I like how Moore is done pretending that he isn't a hardcore communist in his latest film. (I've enjoyed his previous films by the way.)

@27

There is no reason to believe the government regulated health care will indefinitely result in regulations on behaviour, that is irrational. It is possible to simply supply the people with health care when it is needed. It is done everyday in many countries around the world. If you are sick, you get care, that's it. 31 (Chris) has it right, seems to me that the real limit on freedom would stem from not having health insurance.

#29 Ha Ha. Star Wars fan boy librul has nothing to offer or any way to defend his leftist positions. Loser. Just like your president.

I like where this thread is going.

My rebuttal; FRONTLINE's Inside the Meltdown.

I haven't been to the doctor in 5 years. I WANT TO GO TO THE DOCTOR! I can't believe how selfish people are about this health care business. Everyone deserves health care. Not just the wealthy.

I'm confused....

Capitalism: an economic system in which investment in and ownership of the means of production, distribution, and exchange of wealth is made and maintained chiefly by private individuals or corporations, esp. as contrasted to cooperatively or state-owned means of wealth.

The only examples in the video were shady transactions between a shady government and shady businesses which explicitly goes against the definition of capitalism....? Oh, and a bum commenting about how he's upset the owners of companies get rich because of his voluntary choice to buy their products....

You can always tell it's a Republican when it gets down to fever pitch Michael Moore bashing. Self-interested jerkwads which unflinching old-world views and attitudes. Refusing to accept any notions that might conflict with their own or any view that might reveal the taint of their many absurdist ideologies. "Republican" is merely a synonym for selfish asswipe.

@ 24 If they are obvious flaws, why is a bias fat man making movies about them? Under capitalism, he's able to profit off a movie complying about capitalism.

You can always tell it's a Democrat when they sum up most conservatives as elitist versions of Captain Planet villains. Dems self righteously preach their views as inherently learned and moral, and are automatically dismissive of any views decidely conservative, likely a result of their self described "open mindedness".
"Democrat" is merely a synonym for hypocritical douchebag.

See, it works both ways. Try to watch less "Daily Show" and learn to understand why people may hold the viewpoints they do, instead of making the old assumption that you base your beliefs on morality, so the other side must base their beliefs on immorality.

Sounds like a fun watch on an HBO night with nothing else on.
