Jul 17 2009'Star Wars' Cast in 1978 Sears Catalogue
This may be somewhat dated, like around 30 years old, but I couldn't resist posting this unnatural photo most of the key Star Wars cast that's been going around (via Digg). How is it somehow more normal to see them dressed in fur, robes, and helmets than in regular clothes? I feel like I'm looking at the employees of an insanely mismatched, carnivalesque accounting firm.
Still though: Star Wars. Great movie, am I right?

who's that one guy between Ford and Chewie guy? Krouse the guy who was Vader?
3. Joe - July 17, 2009 5:32 PM
David Prowse is the guy next to Ford...yes, he was Darth Vader.
If I had to caption Peter Mayhew's look, it's "I'm going to eat the little dwarf now."

I actually have a copy of this photo that I got autographed by David Prowse about 10 years ago. Weird.

Am I the only one who thinks Carrie looks like Charlie Chaplin in this photo?
9. ALTuna - July 18, 2009 6:43 AM
@6.Amibear - No C3PO because Anthony Daniels is a monumental asshat theatre luvvie that always considered himself above 'these people'.
Oh switch off...

I like how all the guys are wearing Suit and Tie EXCEPT Mark Hamill. Freaking hippie.

Mark and Carrie as SO TINY. I just want to pinch their cheeks.
13. Pat - July 18, 2009 2:30 PM
My God Carrie Fisher is tiny. Are we sure it wasn't her inside R2D2?
14. Brandon - July 18, 2009 5:23 PM
Harrison Ford is the only one who doesn't look weird out of costume. And I'm pretty sure that's because he's done so much more and is known and beloved as several more characters than just Han Solo.
The only other person known and loved for another character is Mark Hamill, and that was voice work so we never saw his face.

Anyone else notice how Prowse looks a lot like a really gussied-up Quatto from Total Recall in this photo.
18. The Dew Man - July 20, 2009 4:46 PM
I think that Mark Hamill in the Batman Series as the The Joker is still bad@ss!

@ 2 - I think Prowse was also the bodyguard in "A Clockwork Orange", and played the Monster in one of the Hammers later "Frankenstein" movies.
21. Happy2Me - August 4, 2009 12:21 AM
You are correct. Prowse was one of those Mr. Universe types with a voice that did NOT match the body. Listen to him in "Clockwork" (which was pre-"Star Wars") and you would appreciate why James Earl Jones did the voice.
He did a lot of bit parts and was even in the original "Casino Royale", again as a Frankenstein-ish Creature. He also trained Christopher Reeve for the first "Superman" movie.

This is funny. Modern dress looks like it doesn't drape well, or move well, or look beautiful, even on these beautiful actors, even if the clothing is tailored. I'm in the S.C.A., and we call modern clothing "naked." Certainly, modern dress is hotter on a hot day, and less warm on a cold day, than our Medieval garb. Modern clothing is always a little uncomfortable; the word "wedgie" after all is a modern idea.
