Jul 23 2009'Ninja Assassin' Trailer: Trailer for a Movie About a Ninja Assassin

ninja-assassin-trailer.jpg

Ah, the ninja. Once a childhood hero and even career aspiration, now a black-hooded figure so diluted by internet prevalence that he stands shameful and neutered beside the pirate and the zombie, his nunchaku dangling limply beside him.

With Ninja Assassin, V for Vendetta director James McTeigue makes his case for us to reopen our hearts to the ninja; to let him show us that, despite being completely watered down with pop culture, the ninja is still pretty awesome. And judging by this trailer, with it enormous quantities of throwing stars, he might have just done it.

The prayer we collectively made in 5th grade (to be allowed into the secret world of ninja assassins) has been answered:

Not high art--and certainly not a ninjamazing as For Hire, aka Lethal Ninja--but it did give me some ninja sensations I didn't know I could feel anymore.

Pretty cool, I've been waiting for this for like a year! The main star is Rain, a huge pop star from Korea who has also been in several TV dramas. I saw him in concert in Vegas a couple years back. I hope he does a good job in this movie so he can continue to shine.

The Ninja was never diluted. Only to those who didn't hear the philosphy.

Pirates= Deception, dishonesty, laziness, and fear of oneself.
Ninjas= Are sometimes very careful and precise, and sometimes don't give a fuck, but most importantly are PUMPED ALL THE TIME

I think I actually gained an inch just watching the trailer.

That movie looks rad.
Plus I'm kind of in love with the lead actor Bi Rain. He's delicious!

5th!!!!

Totally buying this on DVD!

All I could see where a bunch of weapons and cars. Oh--that's right!!! Because NINJAS HAVE NEVER AND DO NO EXIST!!! Silly me.

I think ninjas is a pretty cool guy. eh throws ninja stars and doesn't afraid of anything.

this trailer gave me the biggst boner

The IWatchStuff writter must not watch the right "stuff'" if this movie is what rejuvenates his love for ninja mythos. Bogged down by pop culture? Really? Was the last movie he saw American Ninja or 3 Ninjas? The ninja has always been alive and kicking in Japan and interestingly enough Korea. I guess the next logical thing to do is lament the state of the samurai and then praise the next foreigner who brings out a so-so movie with rejuvenating the whole genre.

IWatchStuff writer, please expand your horizons, subscribe to netflix and actually "Watch" more "Stuff." Thank You.

I'm still waiting for more awesomeness, from this movie. So far it starts out like 300ish upbringing... and these ninjas are fairly loud with its explosions and fire fight scenes... PLUS they seem to attract incoming vehicles to their backside.

Obviously these ninjas lack zen and coolness. NEXT!!!

btw... your fired iwatchstuff writer.

Hmmm?? Is This Wanted but NINJA STYLE?!

Even for a movie trailer, that's some horrid video editing. Holy shit I couldn't see a thing

this movie is gonna be a blast and it is uniquely awesome

I really miss the old days of chop socky theater and the 80s ninja films.
American Nina and Jackie Chan going Hollywood with BAD CG parity much killed that era or at least were the signs of its conclusion.

Ninja Assassin defiantly looks like a fun film.

So it's like Batman?

All this trailer is missing is Sho Kosugi.

+1

@17 - Sho Kosugi IS in the trailer.

at least the main protagonist is asian ...

Gay, Ninjas are gay, and this movie sucks dick

#8: Wow. Between "ninjas is a pretty cool guy," "eh throws ninja stars," and "doesn't afraid of anything," your comment was even funnier than the original post.

#10: Um... I think he means the whole Internet craze over ninjas being "totally awesome." Examples: Ninjas vs. Pirates, Real Ultimate Power, the Dr. Ninja webcomic, etc. The retarded levels of idiocy about Ninjas and Pirates and Zombies that circulates on the web has made them something of a laughing stock for members of that community. Now, Vikings, on the other hand... they are still made of win and awesome, and they eat Ninjas for breakfast.

I won't be seeing this.

Obviously the parts where the pirates get evicerated/explode were too violent to show in the trailer; ...which also explains why the trailer was so short, being that those scenes will be at least 99% of the movie.

P.S. Vikings just sit around listening to techno and buiding cheap furniture, if that is your definition of "win", I weep for you.

Poster #20, this is for you:

I haven't seen that many hira-shuriken since I played Shinobi

So is the director's goal to further water down the ninja with pop culture? If so he's certainly on his way. And #7... you're an idiot

Anybody else think that, given the trailer, this movie would be wicked in 3D? Random thought.

THis almost got me kinda hotototot!!! cant wait for this i hope it does not dissapoint.

Stoopid Ninjas

omg I love the music in the middle

This look so FUKIN good!!!!!! AZN sins fight to the death :) >.

This movie Sucks. I wanted a Ninja Vs Predator !!

#7: lol, Painful Reality Man is a very special person I feel. If there's one thing that is true in his comment, it's "silly me."

#16: Yes, this is Batman's mentor. See the irony? Master kils master kills master? That's the only way you ever become a true Ninja Master, or Batman if your a Ninja millionaire with a love for Bats.

#20: Adam seems to have experience with Ninjas.

#24: They couldn't afford anymore bullets, they spent it all on cars and weapons. At least, that's what #7 says. If Painful Reality Man says it, then it has to be true.

#31: I agree, Ninja vs. Predator is the next step in the evolution of versus movies. Lets also have Aliens vs. Neo vs. Velociraptor. This is a whole new franchise we can open up. What do you say, want to join up?

P.S.: "Don't take the internet seriously, you'll never get out alive." ~ Bugs Bunny, if he were to comment on the internet

woah, this reminds me of the good ole time when I was training to become a ninja because I had spent too much time watching Naruto episodes...

lol #33, exactly.

I don't think this looks too bad. But then again, I've seen so many bad movies everything else seems good in comparison.
