'Hong Kong Phooey' Movie Comes True

Confirming a worry I developed back in March, when looking at Scatman Crothers' IMDb page, Variety is reporting that Alcon Entertainment has recruited Alex Zamm to direct a live-action/CGI hybrid adaptation of Hong Kong Phooey.
The original Hanna-Barbera cartoon focused on an anthropomorphic dog/police station janitor moonlighting as a kung fu crimefighter. So this version will be... Justin Long as a lonely police station janitor with a crush on a tough-but-beautiful female cop (Sarah Chalke of Scrubs) who gets taken hostage by a ridiculously over-the-top crime lord and his bumbling sidekicks; Long is thankfully able to save her once the stray dog he took in at the beginning of the film reveals that it possesses martial arts skills and a Scatman-like voice? Margin of error: +/-1 Jason Lee.
For those unfamiliar with the series, this should explain everything:
Justin Long hears CLANKING inside the police station's file cabinet. He cautiously approaches, raising his mop as a weapon.
JUSTIN: Who's in there?
No answer. He moves in close, SLAMS the drawer open, SCREAMS...
JUSTIN: A dog?
DOG: Could be!
